Tuberculosis cases are increasing at an alarming rate in Gujarat. India could not become tuberculosis (TB) free. In 2024, 87 thousand 397 TB patients were registered in Gujarat. In two years, more than two lakh patients have been affected by TB. The highest number of TB patients in Gujarat is in Ahmedabad, where there are 12 thousand 827 patients. In the TB Free India campaign, Gujarat could not eradicate tuberculosis by 2025. The expenditure has increased from Rs 50 crore to Rs 250 crore, but TB is not being eradicated. TB is increasing in Gujarat due to pollution, bad water and tobacco.
Modi’s guarantee is false
Modi had guaranteed the country that tuberculosis would be eradicated by 2025.
Modi’s guarantee has proved wrong. TB has increased instead of decreasing. That too may be due to the corona vaccine. On 24 March 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi guaranteed the country that, “India is now working on the goal of eliminating TB by the year 2025.” I want more and more countries to benefit from all the campaigns, innovations and modern technology of India.
An average of 358 new TB patients are being reported every day.
Gujarat ranks sixth among the states with the highest number of cases.
In the year 2024, 1 lakh 37 thousand TB patients were registered in Gujarat. In the 9 months of 2025, 87 thousand 397 patients are under treatment.
There were 2466 patients in Ahmedabad rural and 10 thousand 361 patients in Ahmedabad city.
TruNat Machine
TB mainly affects the lungs. It can also affect various other organs of the body, which is called extrapulmonary TB. In Gujarat, 141 TrueNat machines are working for patients, 180 machines were to be purchased in 2025. There are 74 CBNAT machines and 141 TrueNat machines. Claim
March 24 is World Tuberculosis Day. It is claimed that Gujarat has become the leading state by achieving 95 percent of the TB elimination target of Niti Aayog. Financial assistance of more than Rs 43 crore has been given to one lakh 18 thousand 984 TB patients in the year 2024. With the help of more than 10 thousand Nikshay Mitras, 3 lakh 49 thousand nutrition kits have been distributed in the state. Along with this, under the 100-day intensive TB eradication campaign, 35 lakh 75 thousand people have been tested for TB and their treatment has been started.

The Modi government at the Center has claimed that the number of TB cases in the country has come down from 15 lakh in 2015 to just 2.5 lakh in 2023 with a reduction of 83 percent. In 2015, there were 237 cases per 1 lakh people, which became 195 in the year 2023. TB is the most infectious deadly disease in the world and according to the World Health Organization, 12 lakh 50 thousand people lost their lives due to this disease worldwide in 2023. In India, 27 people are dying due to TB per one lakh people. The highest number of TB cases across the country are being recorded in Delhi.
Expense
Rs 46.50 crore paid to TB patients in Gujarat. To provide nutritious food to TB patients, the Government of India deposits an assistance amount of Rs 1000 in the patient’s account every month. In Gujarat, a total of Rs 49.50 crore has been deposited in the accounts of 1,19,833 patients in the year 2024 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
With the goal of TB free India by 2025 for TB elimination in Gujarat, Rs 246 crore was provided to 7.68 lakh patients in the state.
Nutrition kits were distributed to 3,79,382 TB patients from the year 2022 to 2024.
A budgetary provision of Rs 910 crore 83 lakh was made for TB elimination in the country. A budget of Rs 1,666 crore 33 lakh was approved for TB during the year 2022-23, which increased to Rs 1,179 crore 68 lakh during the year 2023-24. Thus, …888 crore 82 lakh rupees.
