Leading the Party from the front for the last \uf001ve years<br \/>\nhas been remarkably successful in expanding BJP&#8217;s organisational foot print,<br \/>\nsecuring one electoral victory after the other in State assembly elections.<br \/>\nDuring his tenure, Party has become the world&#8217;s largest political party with<br \/>\nover 10 crore registered members.<br \/>\nAmit Shah has risen to Head the ruling Party of India literally from the grass<br \/>\nroots. Initially, he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and<br \/>\nlater became an active member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad<br \/>\n(ABVP), to become its Ahmedabad city unit secretary. Later, he also<br \/>\nshouldered the responsibilities of Secretary as well as Vice President of<br \/>\nBJP, Ahmedabad. In 1997, he became National Treasurer of the<br \/>\nBharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). His dedication, dexterity and<br \/>\nabove all result oriented performance made him In-Charge of several election<br \/>\ncampaigns of the National Leaders including that of LK Advani in 1991, Atal<br \/>\nBihari Vajpayee in 1996, both in Gandhi Nagar Parliamentary constituency.<br \/>\nNo wonder, when Narendra Modi decided to context his \uf001rst Assembly<br \/>\nElection in 2001 from Rajkot-2 assembly constituency, it was again Amit<br \/>\nShah as the Campaign Chief.<br \/>\nBeyond campaigns, Amit Shah also became known for his adroit handling of<br \/>\norganisational matters. In 2013, he was appointed as National General<br \/>\nSecretary of the BJP and In-Charge of Uttar Pradesh. His painstakingly<br \/>\ncarried out efforts earned BJP a historic success in the Parliamentary<br \/>\nelections of 2014. He took over as BJP National President in July 2014 and<br \/>\nfrom there onwards there is literally no looking back. During the last \uf001ve<br \/>\nyears, under the twin leadership of PM Narendra Modi and Party President<br \/>\nAmit Shah, BJP has successfully formed Govts in Haryana, Gujarat,<br \/>\nArunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Tripura and<br \/>\nHimachal Pradesh. Also, together with alliance partners, BJP was<br \/>\nreturned to power in States like Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Assam, Goa,<br \/>\nand Manipur. Till recently in Jammu and Kashmir and currently in<br \/>\nBihar, Nagaland and Meghalaya, BJP is the junior partner of the ruling<br \/>\ncoalition.<\/p>\n<p>A man of many parts, Amit Shah is an avid Cricket lover, a sports person<br \/>\nhimself and a voracious reader whose major interests are history and<br \/>\nliterature.<br \/>\nDetails of Elected positions held by Shri Amit Shah &#8211;<br \/>\nA\uf001ve term MLAof Gujarat assembly (1997\u20132017), Amit Shah was elected<br \/>\nfrom Sarkhej Assembly Constituency for four consecutive elections and<br \/>\nfrom Naranpura Assembly Constituency in 2012. In the assembly election<br \/>\nof 2002, Amit Shah was elected with the record lead of 1,58,036 votes in the<br \/>\nhistory of Gujarat assembly elections. Again in 2007, he defeated Congress<br \/>\nparty by the highest margin of 2,32,823 votes for the fourth consecutive<br \/>\ntime.<br \/>\nAs a legislator, served as &#8211;<br \/>\n\u2022 Chairman of Public Undertakings Committee of the Gujarat State<br \/>\nAssembly.<br \/>\n\u2022 Worked for two terms as &#8211; Minister of State for Home, Police<br \/>\nHousing, Border Security, Civil Defense, Home Guards, Gram<br \/>\nRakshak Dal, Prison, Prohibition, Excise, Transport in the Ministry<br \/>\nof Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi.<br \/>\nIn the co-operative sector &#8211;<br \/>\nServed as Chairman, The Ahmedabad Dist. Co.opp. Bank, (22 Jan 2000 to<br \/>\n22 Dec 2002) which is the lead bank of 367 district Co.Opp. Banks of India.<br \/>\nThis loss-making bank was turned into pro\uf001t making ensuring that<br \/>\nshareholders get some dividend on their investment. Also, played key role in<br \/>\npreparing revival package of Rs 400 crore for the then dysfunctional<br \/>\nMadhavpura Mercantile Co-Op bank. The amount so received was<br \/>\ndistributed to the small depositors.<br \/>\n\u2022 Director- The Gujarat State Urban Co.Op.
