{"id":14757,"date":"2019-06-12T05:50:35","date_gmt":"2019-06-12T00:20:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/allgujaratnews.in\/?p=14757"},"modified":"2019-06-12T05:50:35","modified_gmt":"2019-06-12T00:20:35","slug":"cm-hold-meeting-to-review-preparedness-of-administration-to-face-impending-cyclone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allgujaratnews.in\/en\/cm-hold-meeting-to-review-preparedness-of-administration-to-face-impending-cyclone\/","title":{"rendered":"CM hold meeting to review preparedness of administration to face impending cyclone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To meet the likely situation arising out of cyclone and to review<br \/>\nthe preparedness of the state government to face it, Gujarat Chief Minister Mr.<br \/>\nVijaybhai Rupani held a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar late this evening.<br \/>\nThe meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitinbhai Patel<br \/>\nand Revenue Minister Mr. Kaushik Patel and Chief Secretary and other senior<br \/>\nofficials and they had also apprised to Mr. Rupani about the preparedness of<br \/>\ntheir respective departments.<br \/>\nTo ensure minimum loss of lives and properties due to cyclone, several<br \/>\nimportant directive decisions were taken in the meeting. In the meeting it was<br \/>\nalso decided to postpone three-day long, state-wide \u2018Shala Praveshotsav\u2019 to be<br \/>\nheld between June 13 and 15.<br \/>\nThese likely to be affected districts are \u2013 Porbandar, Gir-Somnath, Botad,<br \/>\nBhavnagar, Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, Junagadh, Amreli, Rajkot, and Kutch.<\/p>\n<p>The schools \u2013 colleges in these districts will also remain close on June 12 and<br \/>\n13.<br \/>\nBeside these, tomorrow\u2019s meeting of State Cabinet to be held in Gandhinagar<br \/>\nhas also been postponed as the ministers and district in-charge secretaries<br \/>\ncould go to their respective districts to guide and assist the district<br \/>\nadministration.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, senior IAS officer Mr. Sandeep Kumar has been entrusted with a<br \/>\nresponsibility to restore the electricity on priority basis in Saurashtra \u2013 Kutch<br \/>\nregions, if the PGVCL power supply gets affected due to the cyclone. Similarly,<br \/>\nthe Urban Development Department has also been instructed to shift the<br \/>\nlabourers, who are working at public or private works in these 11 districts, to<br \/>\nsafer places, and to dismantle the giant hoardings to prevent loss of lives and<br \/>\nproperties.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, Mr. Rupani has also urged the citizens to be united to face this<br \/>\nnatural calamity to ensure minimum loss of lives and properties, particularly of<br \/>\nthose 300,000 people who are living in make-shift houses in 31 tehsils of these<br \/>\n11 districts. The administration of these districts have also asked to ensure<br \/>\nshifting of these people to safer places by tomorrow, afternoon.<br \/>\nThe cyclone is likely to hit the coastal areas of Veraval and Diu at a wind speed<br \/>\nof 120 to 130 km per hour, accompanied by rains, on the early morning of June<br \/>\n13.
