Ahmedabad, June 29, 2019: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today laid the foundation
\nstone of a world-class APMC yard at costing Rs.39 crore at Brahmanwad locality of
\nUnjha known for world famous Umiyadham in North Gujarat. They also visited the Umiyadham temple.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the occasion, he said the government alloted land worth Rs.69 cr for
\nthe project at nominal cost of Rs. 4.76 crore. He reiterated his government's<\/p>\n
commitment to provide minimum support price, cold storage, market yard, value
\naddition facilities, modern farm technology and irrigation facilities through<\/p>\n
Sujalam Sufalam and Sauni to the farmers.<\/p>\n
The market yard will have shops cum godowns, cold storages, processing plants,
\noffices, dining hall with road, water, electricity, drainsge, auction sheds, gates,
\ncompound walls. Unjha market trading mainly in spices worth Rs.4,500 crore is
\nthe Asia's biggest yard, with online connections to watch global prices real time fluctuations.<\/p>\n
Mr. Rupani said that Government bought farm produces worth Rs.8,000 crore at
\nMSP from farmers this year, and disbursed Rs.2,700 cr as crop insurance. The
\ngovernment has set aside a revolving fund of Rs. 500 crore for advancing loans to<\/p>\n
farmers at zero percent interest.<\/p>\n
Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has
\nset a target of doubling the farmers' income by 2022. He said that market yards<\/p>\n
are important link between farm and the global market.<\/p>\n
Cooperative Minister Ishwasinh Patel said that the Cooperative Department has<\/p>\n
begun action plan to double farmers; income.<\/p>\n
Others who spoke included BJP state president Jitubhai Vaghani. Those present
\non the occasion included MP Shardaben Patel, MLAs Ramanbhai Patel, Ashaben
\nPatel, Rishikeshbhai Patel and Karshan Solanki, APMC chairman Dinesh Patel, and
