Gandhinagar, Saturday: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today exuded confidence of
\nsupplying potable tap water to 100 per cent homes in the state in next three years by 2022.
\nSpeaking at the valedictory function of the 3-day Chintan Shibir on \u2018Nal-se-Jal\u2019 organized by
\nGujarat Government\u2019s Water Supply Department here, he said that an Action Plan has
\nbeen made to achieve this feat in Gujarat, even two years before the Prime Minister\u2019s
\ndream of providing filtered water, health and educational facilities to all, by the 75 th
\nanniversary of Independence in 2024.
\nMr. Rupani said that Budget allocation has also been made for the Action Plan. The work to
\nreach the last man in the last mile should not stop for want of funds. He described the
\nChintan Shibir as the right time for the right job.
\nHe congratulated the engineers of the department for changing the image of a water-deficit
\nstate to a \u2018Panidar Rajya\u2019 in water recycling, reuse of treated water, water management and
\ndesalination. The engineers have made impossible things possible by taking water to
\nremote areas of onetime drought-prone Saurashtra and Kutch region with the help of water
\ngrid, pumping stations, etc. He regretted the state had to suffer from absence of basic
\namenities like water, gutter and light even after 60-65 years of Independence.
\nWater Supply Department\u2019s Principal Secretary J.P. Gupta said that over 300 officers from
\n33 districts are attending the camp to discuss design-to-distribution, with a view to realize
\nthe dreams of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister.
\nProminent among those present at the function included Water Supply Minister Kunwarju
\nBavaliya, State Government\u2019s Narmada and Water Supply Adviser Navlawala and GIDM
