\u201cIt is the case of fast track injustice by the court of law; very unfortunate\u201d, Shweta Bhatt, the wife of jailed IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt told the media conference at the Press Club of India in Delhi, adding, \u201cBecause, he spoke truth before the Nanavati Commission about perpetrators of 200 Gujarat pogrom. It was the only reason for the Modi regime to target him.\u201d
\n\u201cI want my Sanjiv back home. They have political power to oppress the voices of dissent. We want people\u2019s power to get justice. It is not the issue of Sanjiv\u2019s family; it is for all. Today it is Sanjiv; tomorrow anybody among you. Come on the streets; raise your voice louder for justice\u201d, she said at the press conference organised by the National Confederation of Human Rights Organizations (NCHRO).
\n\u201cWe wonder how high profile criminals such as Babu Bajrangi, Maya Kodnani and so on were very leniently given bail by the courts of law. Then why not to my father, who served for the nation. If the constructed injustice prevails at all levels, where do we go? That\u2019s why we come to the people; come to the media. We don\u2019t want any favour from the justice delivery system; we want justice to be served to us, in a fair manner\u201d, added Shantanu, Sanjiv Bhatt\u2019s son.
\n\u201cThere is no iota of evidence, in which Sanjiv was convicted. The conduct of case is arbitrary, unjust and unfair\u201d, said Adv KP Mohamad Shareef, vice-chairperson, NCHRO. Deepika S Rajawat, lawyer of the Asifa case in Srinagar, Abdul Wahid Sait, National Secretary of Popular Front of India and Prof. Nandita Narayana, Delhi University also attended the Press Conference.
\nPrior to the press conference, NCHRO conducted an activists\u2019 meet on the topic, \u201cThe Nation Stands with Sanjiv Bhatt: Stop State Repression\u201d.
\n\u201cKeep the religion and politics separate\u201d, Shubhashini Ali, President of All India Democratic Women\u2019s Association (AIDWA) told the rulers. \u201cWe should unite for the sake of the Constitution; not only for Sanjiv Bhatt. We should fight for the justice to Sanjiv. Shweta ji, don\u2019t bother; we all are with you; we will win.\u201d
