{"id":35279,"date":"2020-03-11T07:46:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-11T02:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allgujaratnews.in\/?p=35279"},"modified":"2020-03-11T07:46:00","modified_gmt":"2020-03-11T02:16:00","slug":"bjps-income-from-unknown-sources-1-5-times-more-than-other-parties-adr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allgujaratnews.in\/en\/bjps-income-from-unknown-sources-1-5-times-more-than-other-parties-adr\/","title":{"rendered":"BJP&#8217;s income from &#8216;unknown sources&#8217; 1.5 times more than other parties : ADR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report has said that during fiscal 2018-19, BJP declared Rs 1,612.04 crore as income from unknown sources, which is 64% of the total income of t national parties from unknown sources (Rs 2,512.98 crore). \u201cThis income of BJP\u201d, says the report, \u201cForms more than 1.5 times more the aggregate of income from unknown sources declared by the other five national parties (Rs 900.94 crore).<br \/>\n<a name=\"more\"><\/a>Based on income tax returns and donations statements filed with the Election Commission of India (ECI), the ADR report says, as for the Congress, it declared Rs 728.88 crore as income from unknown sources, \u201cwhich is 29% of the total income of national parties from the unknown sources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ADR says, \u201cAt present, political parties are not required to reveal the name of individuals or organizations giving less than Rs 20,000, nor those who donated via electoral bonds. As a result, more than 67% of the funds cannot be traced and are from \u2018unknown\u2019 sources.\u201d<br \/>\nThe ADR analysis further points out that out of Rs 2,512.98 crore as income from unknown sources, the share of income from electoral bonds was Rs 1,960.68 crore or 78% in 2018-19, adding, \u201cBetween FY 2004-05 and 2018-19, national parties have collected Rs 11,234.12 crore from unknown sources.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>Noting that \u201cknown sources have been defined as donations above Rs 20,000, whose donor details are available through contributions report as submitted by national parties to ECI\u201d, the report says, \u201cThe unknown sources are income declared in the IT returns but without giving source of income for donations below Rs. 20,000.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-95iPnHxpv7M\/XmZxz1j1KAI\/AAAAAAAAmt8\/6HsxWOp5UnU61Sumcl_yc5rjhbDFbLWcACLcBGAsYHQ\/s1600\/income.png?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-95iPnHxpv7M\/XmZxz1j1KAI\/AAAAAAAAmt8\/6HsxWOp5UnU61Sumcl_yc5rjhbDFbLWcACLcBGAsYHQ\/s640\/income.png?resize=640%2C306&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"640\" height=\"306\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"288\" data-original-width=\"599\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>\u201cSuch unknown sources include \u2018donations via electoral bonds\u2019, \u2018sale of coupons\u2019, \u2018relief fund\u2019, \u2018miscellaneous income\u2019, \u2018voluntary contributions\u2019, \u2018contribution from meetings\/morchas\u2019 etc. The details of donors of such voluntary contributions are not available in the public domain\u201d, ADR regrets.<br \/>\nThe ADR analysis further finds that the declared income of the seven national parties \u2013 BJP, Congress, Trinamool Congress, CPM, CPI, Nationalist Congress Party and Bahujan Samaj Party \u2013 during 2018-19 came to Rs 3,749.37 crore.
