Using the digital payment infrastructure,\u00a0around\u00a039 crore<\/strong>\u00a0poor people received financial assistance of Rs 34,800 crore\u00a0under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP)\u00a0as on 5th<\/sup>\u00a0May,2020<\/strong>,\u00a0announced by Union Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman on 26th March,2020 to protect them from the impact of the lockdown due to COVID 19.<\/p>\n

As part of the\u00a0PMGKP<\/strong>, the Government announced free food grains and cash payment to women and poor senior citizens and farmers. The swift implementation of the package is being continuously monitored by Central and State governments. Finance Ministry, the concerned Ministries, Cabinet Secretariat and PMO are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the relief measures reach the needy swiftly and in line with the intent of the lock down.<\/p>\n

Fintech and digital technology have been employed for swift and efficient transfer to the beneficiary.\u00a0Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), i.e. transfer that ensures that the amount is directly credited into the account of the beneficiary, eliminates leakage and improves efficiency has been employed.<\/strong>\u00a0This has also ensured credit to the beneficiary\u2019s account without the need for the beneficiary to physically go to the branch.<\/p>\n

The progress achieved so far, under various components of PMGKP is as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Rs 16,394<\/strong>\u00a0crore front loaded towards payment of the\u00a0first instalment of PM-KISAN<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a08.19 crore<\/strong>\u00a0beneficiaries.<\/li>\n
  • Rs 10,025 crore<\/strong>\u00a0credited to\u00a020.05<\/strong>\u00a0crore\u00a0<\/strong>(98.33%) women Jan Dhan account holders as first instalment.\u00a0The number of\u00a0women PMJDY accounts holders<\/strong>\u00a0whose accounts have been debited by customer induced transaction is\u00a08.72 crore (44%). Rs. 2,785 crore credited to 5.57 crore\u00a0<\/strong>women Jan Dhan account holders with second instalment as on 5th<\/sup>\u00a0May.<\/li>\n
  • Rs 1405 crore<\/strong>\u00a0disbursed to about 2.82 crore old age persons, widows and disabled persons.\u00a0Benefits transferred to all 2.812 crore beneficiaries<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • 2.20 crore<\/strong>\u00a0Building & Construction Workers<\/strong>\u00a0received financial support amounting to\u00a0Rs 3492.57 crore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • So far\u00a067.65 Lakh MT<\/strong>\u00a0of food grains have been lifted by\u00a036\u00a0<\/strong>States\/UTs for April.\u00a030.16 LMT<\/strong>\u00a0of foodgrains have been distributed, covering\u00a060.33 crore\u00a0<\/strong>beneficiaries by\u00a036\u00a0<\/strong>States\/UTs for\u00a0April<\/strong>\u00a02020.\u00a06.19 LMT<\/strong>\u00a0of food grains have been distributed, covering\u00a012.39 crore<\/strong>\u00a0beneficiaries by 22 States\/UTs for\u00a0May<\/strong>\u00a02020.<\/li>\n
  • 2.42 LMT of Pulses\u00a0<\/strong>have also been dispatched to various states\/UTs.\u00a0Pulses have been distributed so far to 5.21 crore household beneficiaries out of 19.4 crore such beneficiaries.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Total 5.09 crore\u00a0 Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY<\/strong>) cylinders have been booked under this scheme so far and 4.82 crore PMUY free cylinders already delivered to beneficiaries.<\/li>\n
  • 9.6 Lakh members<\/strong>\u00a0of Employees\u2019 Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has taken benefit of online withdrawal\u00a0of non-refundable advance<\/strong>\u00a0from EPFO account amounting to\u00a02985 crore.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • 24% EPF contribution transferred to<\/strong>\u00a044.97 Lakh employees account amounting to Rs 698 crore<\/li>\n
  • Increased rate of MGNREGA has been notified w.e.f 01-04-2020\u00a0 .\u00a0In the current financial year,\u00a05.97 Crore\u00a0<\/strong>person\u2019s man-days of work generated. Further,\u00a0Rs 21,032\u00a0<\/strong>crore released to States to liquidate pending dues of both wage and material.<\/li>\n
  • Insurance Scheme for Health workers in Government Hospitals and Health Care Centres has been operationalised<\/strong>\u00a0by New India Assurance covering 22.12 Lakh health workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
