But Bhupendra Patel’s figures are true but the claim of good education and good schools being built overnight is hollow.<\/p>\n
In the year 2024-25, a total of 2,29,747 students from kindergarten to class 12 have taken admission in private and government schools in Gujarat. In 10 years, 7 lakh 50 thousand students have left self-finance private schools and joined government schools.<\/p>\n
In 2024-25, the Ahmedabad School Board has the highest number of students enrolled from private to government schools at 37,786.<\/p>\n

Gujarat has 1 lakh smart classes to get technical education. Work is being done on more than 5 thousand smart classes. About 240,000 computers have been provided in 16,000 schools to provide computer-based education to the children of the state. While work is going on to provide 70 thousand computers in more than four thousand schools.<\/p>\n
Good things about government school –
\nThe government schools of the state have quality education as well as basic facilities like drinking water, computer lab, library, playground, nutritious mid-day meal, uniform, smart class room, rooms and cleanliness.<\/p>\n
Educational facilities and infrastructure are also increasing.
\nFree education is available. Government schools are turning into smart schools.<\/p>\n
The education system has been improved.<\/p>\n
Infrastructure such as scholarship scheme, Mission School of Excellence, smart schools, high-tech computer labs, etc. have forced parents to send their children to government schools.<\/p>\n
State schools have good infrastructure for students with modern laboratories, Namo Lakshmi, Namo Saraswati, Gyan Sadhna scholarships, highly qualified teachers, e-library.<\/p>\n
This change has been seen due to playgrounds, high-tech teaching classes, skill development organ curriculum and especially the activism of the school management committee.<\/p>\n
Due to the free facilities available in government schools, a large number of students are coming to government schools. All this has convinced the parents that their child’s future is brighter and safer in a government school than in a private school.<\/p>\n
Economic condition
\nThe biggest reason behind the admission of parents from private schools to government schools is the economic condition. After Corona, enrollment in government schools is increasing. If there is a son, he studies in a private school and daughters in government school. Also, due to inflation, people are turning towards government schools. It is also a compulsion. Most are going forcibly.<\/p>\n
Young teachers have come to Vidyashayaks, they are doing a very good job. The way teachers teach is having a greater impact than what the government gives. Jobs have become secure, the generation has changed, new books have come, new teachers have taught with innovation.<\/p>\n
Reasons for rejecting private school loans –
\nOut of 8 thousand private primary schools in the state, 5500 schools do not have playgrounds. Whereas out of 12,599 secondary and higher secondary schools, 6004 schools do not have playgrounds. 40 percent of the schools are such where children do not have playgrounds. 1200 private schools in Ahmedabad do not have the facility of playgrounds. Every city is like this.<\/p>\n
Education is expensive.<\/p>\n
Parents are arbitrarily forced to buy fees, uniforms, books, clothes, sweaters and all stationery and other items from the school itself.<\/p>\n
The school also forces the children enrolled under RTE – Right to Education to bear other expenses.<\/p>\n
Girls have grown up<\/p>\n
As of 31 December 2018, the number of boys from class 1 to 5 was 16.03 lakh. While the number of girls was 16.05 lakh. The number of girls was 2418 more. At the same time, there were 5983 more boys from class 6 to 8. There were 9.57 lakh girls as compared to 9.63 lakh girls.<\/p>\n

In 10 years from 2008-09 to 2017-18, the number of children in government schools decreased by 6 lakh 17 thousand 721. In the year 2008-09, more than 59 lakh 14 thousand students were enrolled in government primary schools. During the year 2017-18, the number of students decreased to about 52 lakh 96 thousand.<\/p>\n
So, there should have been 70 lakh students in 10 years. So in reality there are 10 lakh fewer students in government schools.<\/p>\n

Reduction in Corona in Ahmedabad

School closures – The number of schools in Ahmedabad has also come down from 450 in 2013-14 to 381 by September 2019, that is, the civic body closed 63 schools during this period.<\/p>\n
Malnutrition increased<\/p>\n
38.5% of children under 5 years of age in Gujarat are malnourished. Schooling and nutrition are interlinked. As malnutrition is increasing, more girls are going to government schools.<\/p>\n
School closing conspiracy<\/p>\n
5223 primary schools have been closed in the name of integration of schools in the state. The most affected are tribal, dalit and minority areas. If one school has to be built then it costs Rs. 5 thousand, at least according to today’s market value. The government needs Rs. 15 thousand crores.<\/p>\n
In 2019, government primary schools, secondary schools are closing every year as compared to 2002. From 2011 to 2017, a total of more than 13,500 government primary schools have been closed.<\/p>\n
