This has increased by 2.5 million in three years. Thus, the total number of passports is 9.2 million, which will reach 10 million by 2026.<br \/>\nIn 2024, 8.12 lakh passports were issued from the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Ahmedabad. An average of 2,225 passports were issued daily from Ahmedabad. 4.539 lakh passports were issued in seven years. After Modi became Prime Minister, 7.5 million people were granted immigration permits in Ahmedabad alone. A passport is required to travel outside India. Unwanted individuals do not receive passports. Whether or not to issue passports depends on the government&#8217;s discretion.<\/p>\n<p>A passport is a document that allows a person to travel from one country to another; Permits for foreign travel. No one can travel abroad without a passport or permission from the country&#8217;s government.<\/p>\n<p>The Ahmedabad Regional Immigration Permit Office received 8.70 lakh applications in 2023, compared to 7.92 lakh in 2024. The decrease in demand for immigration permits was addressed through a special backlog campaign. In 2023, an average of 2,800 passports were issued daily in Gujarat.<\/p>\n<p>The government is working hard to reduce waiting times for applicants for immigration permits. An immigration permit is a formal travel document issued by the government, certifying a person&#8217;s identity and nationality for international travel. Consequently, the number of passport applicants is also constantly increasing. Nearly 80% more passports were issued from Gujarat in 2023 than in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>5.14 lakh passports were issued in Gujarat in 2021 and 9.17 lakh by November 2023. Thus, there was an 80% increase in two years.<\/p>\n<p>From 2020 to November 2023, 25.72 lakh passports were issued from Gujarat.<\/p>\n<p>Most of those applying for passports are 12th pass or recent graduates.<\/p>\n<p>1.17 crore passports were issued in the country in 2022. Kerala topped the list with 14.11 lakh, Maharashtra came in second with 13.78 lakh, and Uttar Pradesh came in third with 12.56 lakh.<\/p>\n<p>91 percent of people do not have passports. Of the 20 lakh people with licenses, 25 percent are from Ahmedabad.<\/p>\n<p>The lowest number is 1,452 in Dang.<\/p>\n<p>50 percent of the country&#8217;s passports are issued in Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Gujarat.
