Gandhinagar, Thursday: In deference to Mahatma Gandhi\u2019s concern for the poor, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today launched the 11th statewide 3-day Garib Kalyan Mela from the Mahatma\u2019s birthplace at Porbandar<\/p>\n
Assistive kits costing up to Rs.25,000, totalling Rs.1.61-crore, were disbursed directly to 3,414 beneficiaries, eliminating middlemen from the process, adding the total during the year to Rs.11.12-crore to 15,467 beneficiaries in Porbandar.<\/p>\n
Nearly Rs.2,307-crore assistive kits is scheduled to be handed over directly to 11.83-lakh poor beneficiaries in 39 fairs across the state over the next three days.<\/p>\n
that 5-litre stainless steel pressure cooker, besides cooking gas connection, will be distributed to 5-lakh women beneficiaries as a different initiative this year.. He also laid the foundation stone of the Rs.119-crore 64-km long Porbandar-Ranavav-Kutiyana bulk pipeline. The state government is also setting up 10 desalination plants along the 1,600-km long coastline on PPP model, with a capacity of 20 MLD, to ensure the region is free from water problem. He said the previous Congress government didn\u2019t care for the water scarcity.<\/p>\n
