Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated the 21 st national
\nconvention of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) at L.D. College of Engineering
\nhere today. He took keen interest while going round the exhibits set up by the stalls.
\nNearly 10,000 students and youth from across India are participating in 70-odd
\ncompetitions, besides exchanging innovative ideas and experiences, at the two-day
\nnational convention. This year\u2019s theme is \u2018Empowering India through Innovation\u2019 to \u2018Shape
\na New India\u2019.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, he said the Gujarat Government has allocated Rs.200-crore
\nencourage 2,000 startups in the state by 2022 as per the Students Startup Policy. The state
\nis encouraging research and development through knowledge-based ecosystem such as
\niCrete in collaboration with Israel. Israel tops in per capita startups.
\nHe said that a seminar was arranged on Startups for MSME at the just concluded Vibrant
\nGujarat Summit, with a view to making the state an auto and manufacturing hub, also
\nhaving potential in defence and aerospace sector. Projects of three young engineers from
\nGujarat have been selected at the Army Technology Seminar. Gujarat has a slew of
\ntechnical universities for Biotech, Railways and Marine, besides an IIT.
\nMr. Rupani said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a new mantra of
\nSkill+Will+Zeal=Win to boost startups in technical sector.
\nISTE Chairman Pratapsinh Desai said that 4,770 engineering colleges and institutes in
\nIndia, enrolling lakhs of students annually. The society accords priority to innovations.
\nGujarat Technical University Principal G.P. Vadodaria also spoke.
\nThose who attended the seminar included Technical Education Commissioner Avantika
