Despite the lockdown, three BJP ruled states had to arrange buses

In view of the increasing danger of coronavirus infection, the central government had announced a nationwide lockdown since late last night. However, with the completion of four days, he has to make some small changes in his decision. The reason was – migrating workers, who came to their hometowns on foot in large numbers with the worry of food and drink amid lockdown. The BJP-ruled states themselves have to come forward to stop these laborers from reaching thousands of other states. So far, the workers migrating from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have announced to run buses to prevent them from going home on foot.

This problem of migrants has emerged as a major challenge for the state governments. In fact, it is not yet clear how much of the population going to their respective cities is suffering from coronavirus. Most of these people are from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. In such a situation, the Central Government on Saturday had to ask the states to use the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), so that they can make the necessary food and stay for the migrants.

The Uttar Pradesh government said that it will arrange 1000 buses to take its people stranded in the Delhi border and Lucknow. Meanwhile, Delhi also started sending migrants to Delhi border through DTC buses.

Gujarat has also said that it will transport 10,000 migrant laborers through buses to the borders of other states. Ashwani Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, appealed to the migrants not to leave Gujarat.

On the other hand, in Madhya Pradesh also the police had to arrange a bus from Gwalior to Jhansi for the people who got out on foot. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand has said that it too can start transport system for the migrants.

However, meanwhile, the Bihar and Chhattisgarh governments have said that the decision to provide transport services to migrant laborers may increase coronavirus infection. The Chief Minister of Bihar had warned against this move, saying that sending migrants by buses is a failure of lockdown. Setting up a relief camp locally is a better option. If the corona expands, it will be difficult to deal with. It is better that people stay where they are.
