At a high-level meet CM reviewed situation emerging out of delayed in rain in Gujarat
Ahmedabad, Tuesday: In wake of delayed rain in the current monsoon season, Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today reviewed the emerging situation at a high-level meeting held under his chairmanship in Gandhinagar.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitinbhai Patel, other ministers and senior officials of the state government. In the meeting, the Chief Minister had reviewed the situation about available stocks of important commodities like drinking water, fodder, electricity supply to the farmers for irrigation and others.
Mr. Rupani asserted that there was enough quota of drinking water in the water reservoirs of the state, thus, he instructed to the administration to ensure that the citizens get uninterrupted drinking water supply, without any problem.
He further pointed out that the Tappar Dam located in arid Kutch district would be filled with 500 MCFT Narmada waters on war-footing to meet the situation emerging out of occurrence of very less rain in that area.
The meeting also decided to continue the distribution of the fodder at a concessional rate of Rs. 2 per kg for the animals of Gau Shalas and Panjara Poles located in all the 44 talukas of the state which have received less than 125 mm of rain. Earlier, the last date for this scheme was 31st July, 2018. The meeting also decided to supply electricity to the farmers for 10 hours, instead of 8-hours, for the irrigations. Of these 44 talukas, maximum ten talukas were from arid Kutch district, followed by eight from Banaskantha, six each from Patan and Surendranagar, four from Ahmedabad, three from Mehsana, two each from Morbi and Jamnagar, and one each from Bhavnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Gandhinagar.
The meeting was also attended by Revenue Minster Mr. Kaushikbhai Patel, Agriculture Minister Mr. R. C. Faldu, Energy Minister Mr. Saurabhbhai Patel, Water Supply Minister Mr. Kunwarjibhai Bavalia, Ministers of State Mr. Jaydrathsinhji and Mr. Parbatbhai Patel, Chief Secretary Dr. J. N. Singh, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. K. Kailashnathan, Principal Secretary Mr. Manoj Kumar Das, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Ashwini Kumar, Mr. Jayant Sarkar of Indian Meteorological Department, and others.
