200 trees were cut down at the construction site of the new bridge connecting Makarba to Karnavati Club on Sarkhej Gandhinagar – S.G. Highway in Ahmedabad. This road is a green building area. The builders sold the goods by showing rosy picture. There are a total of 719 registered green buildings in Ahmedabad, the most of which is SG. Highway and its surrounding areas. Apart from this, green buildings are located in areas like Ambawadi, Navrangpura, Vastrapur, Science City.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation employees took axes and attacked the trees like a sword. In just fifteen days, 200 huge 30-year-old trees were uprooted. Preparations are being made to uproot another 100 trees.
As soon as the new bridge was announced, each tree was marked for cutting. The system did not delay in cutting the trees, buses cut the trees overnight so that there was no commotion.
Green Buildings
This road with heavy traffic and numerous registered green buildings has offices of those who loved greenery and paid a twenty percent premium to these offices. Now the old trees on this road are being cut down.
According to the 3-month details of the corporation, in the areas with the most green buildings, there is talk of removing big green trees from the road itself.
On one hand, green buildings are given priority, on the other hand, the policy of indiscriminate cutting of trees is of BJP leaders.
There are 192 councillors in Ahmedabad. Apart from this, in 2023, Pratibha Jain will be the mayor of Ahmedabad, Jatin Patel will be the deputy mayor, Devang Dani will be the president of Khadi Samiti. These BJP leaders are responsible for this.
