65 percent corruption in the price keeping by Gujarat BJP

Ahmedabad has the highest bus maintenance contract in the country

Ahmedabad, August 4, 2025
Aero Eagle Company of Pune will be given the contract at the rate of Rs 94 per kilometer. In many states, this contract has been given at the rate of Rs 57 per kilometer. The price is 37 rupees more. BJP leaders are paying 65 percent more price. Which is considered a big scam. A contract of 225 buses has been given. This contract has been given to an unknown and inexperienced company outside Gujarat.

Bus Manufacturer
The company that manufactures electric buses is mostly given the contract for operation and maintenance. These include companies like Tata, Ashok Leyland, Olectra. But in this tender, the top official of AMTS had laid down the conditions that only Aero Eagle would get the contract, so even the big manufacturers did not show interest in the tender.

High price
The operation and maintenance of electric buses is running at Rs 100 per km. 65 to 70 per km. Now, preparations are being made to give the contract at a higher price of Rs 94 per km. Rs 1441 crore will be paid for 12 years in the tender. Due to which the organization will suffer a loss of more than Rs 200 crore.

New bus
AMTS has taken 225 new electric buses. For whose operation and maintenance, tenders have been announced for the first time. Only one company, which is also the manufacturer of this bus, had filled the tender. When the tender was issued for the second time, the same company Aero Eagle filled the tender.

Arbitrary
A high official of AMTS has arbitrarily given the contract to Pune’s Aero Eagle Company at a price of Rs 94 per km. This price is higher than the prevailing prices across India by up to Rs 30 per km. The penalty for under-calibration is only 10%, including the fine. This should not make any difference in the cost.

New company

Aero Eagle Company does not manufacture any bus itself. It only assembles buses. The company has just been formed. The company has put a bus on the ground for the first time only 5 months ago. Therefore, there is a big irregularity in this tender.

Prime Minister
The central government had invited quotations for the operation and maintenance of electric buses for various cities and states of the country under the Pradhan Mantri E-Bus Yojana.

In which the price of a 9 meter bus in Gujarat was Rs 65.5.

Madhya Pradesh 58.1, Maharashtra 69.05, Rajasthan 60.9, Haryana 65, Andhra Pradesh 62.20, Uttarakhand 57.6, Pondicherry 63.9, Chhattisgarh 62, Ladakh 71, Meghalaya 65, Bihar 62.7, Punjab 65.9.

Noida
In the tender held in Noida in May 2025, the price of a 9 meter bus was kept at Rs 55 and the price of a 12 meter bus was Rs 66. Only conductors have been demanded separately in this tender.

BRTS
In the tender held 6 months ago by Ahmedabad’s BRTS – Janmarg, the price of a 12 meter bus was Rs 72.

History
The red bus service started on April 1, 1947 with 60 buses. In 2020, the number of AMTS increased to 800.

Inactive for 40 years
In the meeting of the Municipal Transport Committee, the ruling BJP approved the budget of Rs 705 crore for 2025-26 with a loan of Rs 4620 crore and other amendments of Rs 23 crore.

Double Decker
A year ago, seven double decker buses had to be discontinued due to losses. However, four new electric double-decker buses are being purchased at a cost of Rs 8 crore.

100 new mini CNG buses were to be purchased at gross cost kilometer and 1272 buses were to be added to the fleet of new 445 AC buses in the year 2025-26.

Girls studying in school after class 10 were given 85 per cent discount in ticket rate.

Before the BJP came to power in Ahmedabad in 1986, the Ahmedabad Transport Service (AMTS) was considered Asia’s best public transport service, ‘Red Bus’. 40 years later, AMTS is burdened with debt. These buses run only when the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation gives them loan every month.

However, AMTS renovated the Lal Darwaza terminus at a cost of Rs 8.5 crore.

Ticket scam
A scam was exposed in which the conductor of an AMTS bus going from Kalupur bus stand to Khatraj took money from 34 passengers and did not give them tickets.

No conductor
In 2019, it was decided to run 300 buses without conductors. 7 buses were running. 23 buses running on 21 routes were running in loss. Due to this

This decision was taken.

All buses on rent
The condition of Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service is very bad.

It has come to light that AMTS does not have a single bus.

Benefit to private companies
The area of Ahmedabad city has increased to 488 square kilometers.
The BJP-ruled AMTS is now running only for the benefit of private operators. It has become dependent on the buses of private operators. This is reducing the income.
To make the private operators earn a little, the municipal corporation treasury is being forced to take grants and loans worth crores of rupees every year.
Not a single AMTS bus has hit the road since 2021.
The income of AMTS buses was Rs 1 crore in 2021, Rs 84 lakh in 2022, Rs 37 lakh in 2023 and Rs 10 lakh in 2024. Now it has been discontinued.
