According to the PTI report, AMNL will have all the operational and management control of IANS and AMNL will have the right to appoint all the directors of IANS. As per the scheduled acquisition, IANS is now a subsidiary of AMNL. IANS’ revenue in the financial year 2022-23 was Rs 11.86 crore.

On January 19, 1780, during the difficult times of the East India Company, James Augustus Hickey started the first newspaper in Calcutta named ‘Bengal Gazette’ or ‘Calcutta General Advertiser’. Two journalists, Ravi Nair and Anand Mangalnal, had to risk arrest by the Gujarat Police for writing an article on the Adani Hindenburg controversy. The Supreme Court gave relief to both the journalists by granting them interim protection from arrest proceedings by the Gujarat Police.
They were asked to appear in person for questioning by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch of Gujarat in connection with a preliminary inquiry into their article published on the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project website.
