The only path of the extremist trio – finish the Congress
Internal strife in Jignesh Mevani and Congress
The only common path of the strong agitating trio of Congress
Dilip Patel
Ahmedabad, June 1, 2025
The leaders who became Amit Shah’s hand in toppling the excellent government of BJP’s Anandiben Patel are now putting the last nail in the Congress. The common path of Jignesh Mevani, Alpesh Thakor and Hardik Patel, who agitated against Anandiben Patel’s government, is now clear. These three young leaders were the hope of Gujarat. But now it has been proved that all three leaders have been benefiting the BJP by creating controversy and discord at the right time. The way of working of these three leaders is the same. Go to Congress, finish it and then run away and taste the power. The last name of which is of Jignesh Mevani. Of the three leaders who are on the path of keeping the Congress out of power once again in 2027, two have dug the grave of the Congress and joined the BJP. Now Jignesh is digging the grave. Internal strife has increased in the Congress ahead of the by-elections to the Kadi and Visavadar assembly seats in Gujarat. Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani has demanded, without naming names, that leaders like Bharat Ma Solanki, Amit Chavda, Shaktisinh Gohil of the party be expelled from the party, calling them ‘broken cartridges’. Broken Congress Jignesh Mevani had demanded that the ‘broken cartridges’ on his ‘X’ account be expelled from the party. ‘Now even the leaders of other parties are saying that your party has only empty cartridges. Who are you waiting for to expel them? BJP’s B team, empty cartridges, those who make arrangements from the opposition camp and marriage horses, it is painful to expel all of them from the Congress. Where? If not mine, then consider Rahulji’s.’
Photo controversy
Amidst this controversy, photos of Jignesh Mevani with AAP candidate Jagdish Chavda in the Kadi assembly by-election have surfaced. They are acquainted with each other. Jagdish Chavda is an active member of the Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch, which Mevani founded in 2016. Did Mevani not accept the responsibility of being in-charge of Kadi Congress due to the possibility of Jagdish Chavda being the AAP candidate from Kadi assembly seat?
Factionalism
Congress’s internal factionalism has become more evident. Such a rift in the Congress before the by-election can prove to be harmful for the party. It will be interesting to see what turn these political activities take in the coming days. They have climbed the ladder of two Congress leaders. Desai and Pal remain with them.
Missed opportunity
Jignesh Mevani had the opportunity and ability to become the best leader of Gujarat. But his biggest weakness is not being able to become an MLA and Dalit leader. Instead of becoming a big-hearted leader, he has become a narrow-minded worker. He has been in the Congress for only a few years. The Congress has done countless favors to him. Forgetting everything, he is now fighting against Congress leaders. In which he is also dragging Rahul Gandhi. Mevani himself is a combative MLA. He used to stand and talk outside the press conference of Aam Aadmi Party. An independent MLA was elected with the help of Congress and now he is digging the foundation of Congress.
Such a return of favor
Congress has done countless favors to him. Which he has forgotten. Like Hardik Patel did and Alpesh Khoda Thakor did, now Jignesh Mevani is on the same path.
Talk without proof
He wants to capture Congress as soon as possible. As a result, he is going to any extent to uproot the Congress leaders. He wants to become the Congress President. In which he is reducing his stature. 22 Congress leaders have separated and BJP is doing what it is saying. The whole of Gujarat agrees with this. But Mevani has not been able to find any proof of which Congress leader is going to meet BJP. He is only making allegations based on rumors. Due to which he is reducing his stature.
Know Mevani
Born in Ahmedabad in 1982, Mevani works as a former journalist, social worker, agitator, fighter for Dalits and lawyer. In 2016, he led the protest of Dalits in Gujarat.
His family belongs to Meo in Mehsana district. He did his schooling from Swastik Vidyalaya and Vishwavidyalaya Secondary School. In 2003, he graduated from H.K. Arts College, Ahmedabad. In 2004, he did a diploma in journalism and mass communication. From 2004 to 2007, he worked as a journalist in the Gujarati weekly “Abhiyan”. In 2013, he graduated from D.T. College, Ahmedabad. He worked as an animation film maker in Mumbai.
Jignesh Mevani contested the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections as an independent from Vadgam and won. Congress withdrew its candidate in support of Jignesh Mevani. Independent MLA Jignesh Mevani joined the party from Vadgam seat, but due to technical reasons he did not leave his independent MLA post. In 2015, Hardik Patel became a popular leader in Gujarat through the Patidar reservation movement. During this time, youth like Jignesh Mevani, Alpesh Thakor also made their presence felt on the political stage of the state. Talking about the 2017 assembly elections, in this election, Congress had performed the best in the last few years. In this election, BJP got 99 seats
, while Congress got 77 seats. At that time this trio was with the Congress. Then it started disintegrating and BJP has been benefiting in every election. Career made from Una After the incident of atrocities on Dalits in Una, Gujarat, it was announced that, “Now Dalits will not be able to get votes.” He will not do ‘dirty work’ for the society, that is, skinning dead animals or carrying sewage on the head etc… The path of all three is the same All three young leaders joined the Congress, but Hardik and Alpesh later joined the BJP. Hardik Patel is contesting for the first time, Jignesh Mevani for the second time (current MLA Vadgam) and Alpesh Thakor for the third time. Vice President On 7 July 2022, seven new working presidents of Gujarat Congress were announced. This is the first time in the political history of the Congress that seven working presidents have been appointed simultaneously. Five of the new seven working presidents were MLAs. Which included Jignesh Mevani (Vadagam), Lalit Kagthara (Padhari-Tankara), Ambrish Der (Rajula), Himmat Singh Patel (Bapunagar, Ahmedabad) and Ritwik Makwana. Apart from these, there were two new working presidents Indravijay Singh Gohil and Qadir Pirzada. Assembly elections were to be held in Gujarat state in a few months and some time ago, working president Hardik Patel left the party and joined BJP. He became BJP MLA from Viramgam. Hardik Patel had lamented that despite being the working president of Congress, he is not getting work and importance. His condition is like ‘a groom who has undergone sterilization’. The post of working president is a very senior post. If they give this post to a 27-year-old youth with the intention of playing the ‘Patidar card’, then there will be resentment among the senior leaders! This is what Alpesh and now Jignesh are doing. After becoming the vice-president, Jignesh could not take people along, and had announced that he would prepare a blueprint for the new Gujarat in terms of education, health and employment. He will focus more on North Gujarat. He will work for unemployment, Dalits, tribals and minorities. That is why he could not become a leader of the people.
Court’s sentence
Vadagam MLA Jignesh Mevani has been sentenced to 6 months in jail by the Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court. In this case, 19 accused including Jignesh Mevani have been sentenced to jail. In 2016, this was a case of blocking the road demanding to rename Gujarat University’s ‘Qaidah Bhavan’ as Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan. The case was registered under section 143 of the IPC.
3 months imprisonment
Mehsana court has sentenced ten people including Jignesh Mevani and Reshma Patel to three months imprisonment. In 2017, the court convicted them of violating the notification for taking out Azadi March from Mehsana to Dhanera in May 2022 without government permission.
Modi is a worshipper of Godse
Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani had commented against Prime Minister Modi on social media. He wrote such things that Prime Minister Narendra Modi worships ‘Godse’ and considers him God. I challenge the Prime Minister to raise the slogan ‘Godse Murdabad’ from the Red Fort. In which case, BJP leader Anup Kumar Dey had lodged a complaint in Kokrajhar police station of Assam. Bringing the matter to light and registering a case is called 56 inches of cowardice. Computers, laptops and phones were seized. Arrested by Assam Police in two cases Arrested by Kokrajhar Police of Assam from Palanpur Circuit House Debika Brahma’s allegations Kokrajhar police station’s woman sub-inspector Debika Brahma was bringing the accused Jignesh Mevani from Guwahati’s LGB airport to Kokrajhar after his arrest. The arrested accused (Jignesh Mevani) pointed a finger at me and tried to intimidate me and pushed me hard on my seat. In this way, he attacked me while I was performing my duty as a government servant and violated the modesty of a woman by touching me inappropriately while pushing me.
Fake video
In June 2019, a case was registered against Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani for posting a fake video on social media and defaming a private school. The person who was beaten up is a teacher of RMVM school in Valsad.
Hardik Patel’s support
Hardik Patel said, MLA Jignesh Mevani was arrested by Assam Police last night. The arrest happened just because of a tweet and that too at midnight. My government is warning that if anything happens to Jignesh Mevani, the government will be responsible. Now even MLAs are not safe in the country.
Amit Shah’s allegations
In the run-up to the elections, BJP leader Amit Shah held a press conference and levelled allegations against Mevani and accused him of taking help and money from Pakistani elements. Amit Shah has not lodged any police complaint against these allegations till date.
Suspension
A case of rape of a Dalit woman by a BJP leader also came to light in the Gujarat Assembly.
Mevani was suspended from the Assembly along with other Congress MLAs.
He had demanded that Gautam Adani be questioned in the drugs case.
Pride
Jignesh Mevani declared, ‘I am the youth leader of India, national Dalit youth leader. Nitin Patel is only a Patidar leader of North Gujarat. Before asking for votes, Nitin Patel said that I am a Dalit leader of Gujarat, but I tell them that I am a leader of Gujarat and also a youth leader of the country. You are only a Patidar leader of North Gujarat.’
Nitin Patel said, I am not a leader, I am a leader of the Congress.I am a worker. Don’t fly in the air, many have come and gone. There are many tribals in BJP who are bigger than you, lit and OBC leaders. We respect you, but don’t think that you are a very big Dalit leader. I don’t consider myself a leader. You said that I am a Patidar leader of North Gujarat. But I consider myself a worker. Not a leader like you. Now what? The whole of Gujarat was listening to what Nitin Patel was saying. What he said, now Mevani is on the same path in 2025. Gujarat cannot afford to lose a good leader. Jignesh still has time. The only way left for him is to collect evidence of isolated leaders of Congress and give it to Rahul and Kharge. The entire Congress and the people of Gujarat also now want to get rid of these 22 leaders. But they have not been able to bring out the evidence of what they are doing wrong together. This work should be done by former journalist Jignesh Mevani. If they don’t do so, the people of Gujarat will assume that they are also following the path of Hardik and Alpesh. Jignesh is working to bring the BJP to power again in 2027. (Google translation from Gujarati)
