Bauxite lease has been allotted on 62 hectares of pasture land of Amritpura Gram Panchayat of Thasara Taluka of Kheda District. Allowing the lease would cause huge damage to the environment, farmland and animals.
When the public hearing was held on November 18, 2025, there was opposition. An officer of Kheda GPCB and Additional Collector were present in it. There is a lot of anger among the farmers and herdsmen of the village against the lease. Kheda GPCB officer and Additional Resident Collector demanded that since the lease is to be allotted only in Amritpura, only local people should be consulted instead of nearby villages.
On March 10, 2019, land mafia was illegally stealing bauxite minerals on Gouchar land in Amritpura. Villagers went to the spot and stopped the work. They also stopped JCB and tractors. He made a big fuss. He informed Thasara police.
62 hectares of Gouchar land in Amritpura was illegally occupied by the land mafia and extracting coal. Uninterrupted mining of bauxite mineral was started without prior permission of Gram Panchayat. Despite large-scale mining of coal, many questions are being raised on the Minerals Department.
On 22 November 2025, illegal mining was caught in Amritpura of Kheda district even before the approval of bauxite lease. Equipment worth Rs 82 lakh was seized.
