Ghed was flooded again, the fields were filled with water. Farmers are facing trouble due to the temporary repair work on the gabion wall being washed away.
Ghed Panthak has been flooded again due to rain last night in Junagadh district. Sand bags kept on the broken gabion wall in the Ojat river near Bamanasa were washed away and water entered the fields. Only a few days ago, the water spread in Ghed Panthak was gradually decreasing, but now the local people and farmers are in trouble due to the water entering again. Due to heavy rains, new water has entered the reservoirs including the Ojat-2 dam and many roads have been closed again, affecting life.
Many reservoirs in Junagadh district overflowed due to 15 inches of rain in the very first round of the monsoon season. Near Bamanasa of Keshod, the gabion wall built at a cost of more than 1 crore on the river bank to prevent erosion of fields was washed away in two days. As a temporary solution, sand bags were filled on the washed away gabion wall to prevent the flood flow of Ozat river from eroding the fields when heavy rains again occurred. Some of those bags were pulled into the flood flow and the apprehension that the fields would not erode came true.
