launches two-month long ‘Tent City – Beach Festival’ at Mandvi

Ahmedabad: Launching Mandvi Beach Festival and Tent City on the coast of Mandvi at Kutch today, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani announced that the Mandvi Beach Festival, along with its Tent City, will be held simultaneously every year now with Dhordo Rann Utsav.

In this reference, the Chief Minister said that the strategy, which made ‘White Desert’ of Kutch a world level tourist attraction, would be adopted for making the ‘White Send Bay Beach’ a tourist attraction across the globe.

Mr. Rupani categorically stated that the announcement made in this year’s budget by Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi to develop ‘Dholavira’ as an iconic place would definitely boost the tourism and hospitality sectors in Kutch region.

The Chief Minister also expressed determination to develop a tourism circuit that includes places, besides Kutch Rann Utsav, such as Dholavira, Mata Na Madh, Bhadreshwar, Narayan Sarovar, Shyamji Krushna Verma Museum, and other tourist places for generating large scale employments and economical activities in Kutch region for its all-round growth through tourism.

It should be noted that seeing massive response to the Rann Utsav, the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) has organized two months long ‘Mandvi Beach Festival’ from February 13.

To facilitate the tourists during the night-halt at beach, a Tent City, with 55 tents, has been built. These tents have categories such as A.C. Premium, Mini Darbari, A.C. Deluxe, and Non-A.C. Deluxe.

According to available data, Mandvi has been ranked 3rd in ‘Leisure Destination Category’ in Gujarat. Last year, more than 2-lakh tourists had visited the Mandvi Beach.

The event was also graced by Gujarat Tourism Minister Mr. Jawaharbhai Chavda, Minister of State (Tourism) Mr. Vasanbhai Ahir, MLA Mr. Virendrasinh Jadeja, Tourism Secretary Mrs. Mamta Verma and others.
