PM and Home Minister challenged to help after plane crash

Dilip Patel Ahmedabad 19 June 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had claimed that immediate relief work could be done due to the promptness of Gujarat’s disaster management. But that claim is proving to be false. An incident has come to light that proves it wrong. Not Gujarat Disaster Management, but the Health Department got the information first and it reached within 3 minutes to provide relief, not the Disaster Department. The State Emergency Operations Center completely failed to respond immediately. The State Emergency Operations Center was informed by 108. Thus, the Emergency Operations Center has repeatedly proved to be a complete failure.

After the accident, the injured are rescued and treated. Which is called the golden period. On June 12, 2025, Air India flight AI-171 took off from Ahmedabad and within a minute it crashed near the Civil Hospital in Meghaninagar near the airport. Health Department Company Claim
The first person to call for help after the Ahmedabad plane crash was Emergency Services Supervisor Satinder Singh Sandhu. He has been associated with GVK-EMRI for years. So he immediately understood the situation.

108 employees reached the spot within 3 minutes. Rescue operation was started.
The first to reach the services were Chirag Santoki, EMT Chintan Wankar and pilot Dharmendra Patel.

Different claims of the government and 108
The Gujarat Information Department had issued information that as soon as the first call was received at 1.41 pm, 4 ambulances were immediately sent from the nearest place. The first ambulance reached the spot in 3 minutes at around 1.44 pm. In 10 minutes, 31 ambulances reached the spot and helped. 80 people of 108 participated in the rescue operation.

Another claim
It was claimed in the news that 31 ambulances reached the spot within 10 minutes of the plane crash. In which 176 injured were taken to the hospital.

80 people from EMS joined the operation at the spot.

Then fire brigade, police, hospital and officials arrived.

Immediate dispatch of ambulances, organized rescue and recovery work and leadership present on the spot played an important role in handling this serious situation effectively and sensitively. But the disaster department was nowhere to be seen.

Jaswant Prajapati, Chief Operating Officer of 108 GVK EMRI, told that the place where the plane crashed is very close to the 108 Supervisory Staff Office, at a distance of 50 meters. After hearing the sound of the plane breaking, 108 was informed and as per the protocol the control room informed other local rescue organizations like police, fire brigade and disaster management etc.

Jaswant Prajapati is telling a newspaper that it simply means that the ambulance service informed the disaster management. The fire brigade was informed. By then the ambulance had reached there.

The Emergency Response Center received about 25 calls about the plane crash. As soon as the first call came at 1.41 pm, 4 ambulances were immediately sent to the spot. Within 3 minutes of receiving the information (around 1.44 pm) the first ambulance reached the spot and the fire department was also informed about the incident.

A multi-causality incident message was sent to all the concerned officials from the Emergency Response Center. Within 10 minutes of receiving the call about the incident, 31 ambulances immediately reached the spot. A total of 35 ambulances were involved in the operation.

The ambulance service company claimed that a total of 176 victims were taken to the hospital during the operation. Out of which 18 people were alive.

The government claimed that after the accident, about 50 people were brought to the civil hospital in an injured condition. Of these injured, 16 were being treated as outpatients and 31 as indoor patients.

In this way, the claims of both are different.

Thus, the false claims of the Prime Minister, Home Minister, Government of Gujarat can be exposed through the details released by Pol 108 GVK EMRI.

Claims in the meeting of Chief Minister and Union Home Minister

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level meeting in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and got detailed information about the entire incident.

Union Minister CR Patil, Union Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Union Minister of State Muralidhar Mohol were present in the meeting.

In this meeting, the Union Home Minister was provided with complete information including the complete history of the plane crash, relief and rescue operations, health services by the Department of Civil Aviation, DGCA, Health Department, Police arrangements and Relief Commissioner.

Regarding the relief and rescue operations carried out by the state government immediately after the accident, it was told in this meeting that 45 doctors, SDRF, NDRF, 85 fire brigades, AMC, 75 ambulances were involved in the operation.

Amit Shah praised the coordination and prompt action of the Central Government agencies and the State Government’s police, health, fire and disaster management machinery in rescue and relief. The Gujarat government claimed that the state government carried out rescue and relief operations in the accident and taking the injured to the hospital for treatment on a war footing. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel made a hollow claim that as soon as he came to know about the accident, he immediately instructed the entire system to join the rescue and relief operations. Giving information about the accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that they immediately involved the entire system in rescue and relief operations.

Considering the seriousness of the accident, T. Shah got the state government help from central agencies.

Even before the government arrived, two teams of the ambulance fire service of the health department company reached the spot in a response time of 3 minutes and rescued more than 30 people.

The government claims that two teams of the fire service reached the spot in a response time of just 3 minutes and rescued more than 30 people. But after giving information about the fire, first 108 did the rescue operation and people were sent to the hospital. After that comes the disaster team.

Force
The government force for rescue and relief operations was as follows.

250 Army personnel,

1 Rapid Action Force team,

3 NDRF-SDRF teams,

139 fire fighting equipment,

612 fire service personnel,

Police dog squad,

100 ambulances,

The State Emergency Operations Centre, Roads and Buildings Department provided residential and transport facilities in Ahmedabad for the relatives of the passengers affected by the accident. 10 teams of 36 DNA testing FSL experts, 150 employees of Municipal Corporation and Roads and Buildings Department, 41 dumper-tractors, 16 JCBs and 3 escalators have been kept on standby. Health, FSL, Fire, Police, District Administration and related departments of central agencies and state government were engaged in this work. The government had claimed that this operation has proved the excellence of disaster management of the state. But this claim is half true.
