Rajendra Singh Rana
Rajendra Singh Rana is the grandson of Sardar Singh Rana. He has been the state president of BJP and an MP.
Two Sardars of Gujarat made a very important contribution to the independence of the country. One Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the other Sardar Singh Rana. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel united the country by defeating the British with the weapon of non-violence while living in India. While Sardar Singh Rana worked to break the morale of the British by intimidating them through armed revolution while living abroad.
Sardar Singh Rana led the movement along with Shyamji Krishna Verma, a revolutionary who fought for the independence of his country while living abroad. Sardar Singh went to London to study law and it was here that he was introduced to Shyamji Krishna Verma.
Sardar Singh along with Bhikhaji Cama established ‘India House’ in London. The Indian freedom movement on foreign soil was getting momentum from ‘India House’ only. Rana, the founder of ‘Indian Sociologist’ newspaper, along with Verma and Cama started the Indian freedom struggle with pistols and bombs. It was Sardar Singh Rana with whose pistol Indian revolutionary Madanlal Dhingra killed British officer Curzon Wyllie in London.
Across the country, Gujarat is being considered as a laboratory of Hindutva and a model state for BJP.
In 1996, independent candidates Purushottam Solanki and Rajendra Singh Rana contested against Sam in the Lok Sabha elections. Solanki lost. Later, Purushottam Solanki joined BJP and was also a minister for 20 years. Currently, he is contesting from Bhavnagar Rural seat.
When Narendra Modi became the Chief Minister, Rajendra Singh Rana was the state president of BJP. Five-time MP for 18 years, acting state president from 1998-2006, national minister.
