Gandhinagar, Tuesday: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today reiterated his government’s commitment to establish Good Governance for all round development of Daridra Narayan through a series of Central and State Governments’ pro-people welfare schemes for the last three years.
In yet another initiative to address the people of Gujarat on Tuesday through social media on Facebook, he listed his government’s past achievements and outlined the future plans.
Mr. Rupani recalled that several slogans were issued in the past to remove poverty but the poor were used as vote bank, while the gap between the rich and poor continued to widen. He regretted the former Congress Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s on record statement in Parliament after the Sachar Committee that the minorities have the rights on the government’s all resources.
While the Congress professed ‘Roti, Kapda, Makan’ as its policy all these years, Mr. Rupani said that Mr. Modi has launched the cleanliness campaign to declare the nation Open Defecation Free (ODF), building 40-lakh toilets in Gujarat, providing 40-lakh gas connections in Gujarat under Ujjwala Yojna, opening bank accounts for Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) of money in the names of poor under Dhan Jan Yojna.
There are housing schemes for the poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna, Sardar Patel and Deendayal Upadhyay and Halpati Yojna to provide 5-lakh houses every year, totalling 25-lakh houses in five years.
There are schemes for medical cover for the poor, saving them from bankruptcy, like Ayushman Bharat, Ma Amritam and Vatsalya Yojna, covering 3.50-crore or half of the people of Gujarat, the government spending Rs.1,200-crore annually.
There are schemes for slum redevelopment, UWIN card for workers in the unorganised sectors, full meal at Rs.10 under Shramik Annapurna Yojna.
There are schemes for poor and scheduled tribes like Samras Hostels in urban areas, expenses for study abroad, Rs.15,000 tablet at token price of Rs.1,000.
The Gujarat Government arranged distributed assistive kits worth Rs.26,000-crore at Garib Kalyan Melas to make the poor self-reliant, resolved over 2-crore problems concerning 57 civic services by 8,800 Seva Setu teams, offering cash assistance to marry parents’ daughters under Kunwarba Mameru Yojna, providing ST buses at concessional rates for transporting marriage groups, Vhali Dikri Yojna-2019 of paying Rs.1-lakh to girls attaining 18 years to check child marriage.
