New Delhi, February 14, 2020 – The Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, in partnership with Miranda House College, will host a conference for over 300 trainee teachers in Delhi on February 18-19. Twenty-three U.S. Department of State-funded English Language Fellows from South and Central Asia as well as a few selected local trainers will lead 60 hands-on, interactive workshops for trainee teachers over the two days.
The conference will promote reflective and learner-centered pedagogical practices for new teachers and create a mutually supportive group of educators. The two-day event has been designed to address the needs of these trainee teachers such as managing classrooms more effectively, designing effective activities, and incorporating strategies to make the most of limited classroom time. The conference is intended to empower these trainee teachers in their classrooms.
“One of RELO’s objectives is to provide support for educators throughout the region and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to have this group of English Language Fellows share their expertise with up and coming educators in India through this two-day conference,” said U.S. Embassy Regional English Language Officer Maria Snarski.
The English Language Fellow Program is a 10-month program that brings American specialists with Masters’ Degrees to countries overseas to help support English language learning and teaching at partnering universities.
