There are 45 lighthouses on the Saurashtra-Kutch coast, many of which are on 144 islands. Out of which 3 have been developed as tourist places.

There are 45 lighthouses, 5 radar beacon stations, 3 radio beacon stations and 12 light buoys along the Saurashtra-Kutch coast of Gujarat. The lighthouse at Hazira in Surat has a history. The state government had made a provision for this in its general budget in 2015-16. At that time the Chief Minister of the state was Anandiben Patel.

From 2018, it was announced that Diva Dandi would be developed. Government of India decided to develop 3 lighthouses located in Darya Kantha region of Saurashtra for tourism purposes. In which the lighthouses of Dwarka, Veraval and Gopnath will be developed from tourism point of view. It will have facilities including a visitor’s room, a bird information kiosk, an exhibition landscape depicting the history of the maritime board, an Allied fountain and a restaurant. There will be arrangement for sea view through binoculars. There will be facilities for the entertainment of the visitors.
