Congress in Gujarat, what is the gameplan?

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP-Congress are continuing their efforts to field Murtia in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP has announced the names of candidates for 15 seats in Gujarat. The names of other 11 candidates can be announced today. Then the Congress high command announced the second list of candidates late in the evening in which the names of seven candidates of Gujarat Congress were announced. The high command has fielded two sitting MLAs of Gujarat Congress, Ganiben Thakor and Anant Patel, besides a former MLA, Lalit Vasoya and Bharat Makwana. Apart from this, tickets have been given to new and young faces on four other seats. Looking at the way the candidates have been selected, an image has been created that the candidates in Gujarat Congress are lagging behind.

There will be a contest between two women candidates on Banaskantha seat.

The Congress high command announced the names of a total of 43 candidates yesterday, including seven candidates from Gujarat Congress. Congress MLA from Vav assembly seat, Ganiben Thakor has been given ticket from Banaskantha seat. Ganiben Thakor has been selected considering the dominance of OBC voters including Congress supporters. Now there will be a contest between two women candidates on Banaskantha seat because BJP has fielded Rekha Choudhary on this seat. In view of this, there is a possibility that a war of pieces will be played. Apart from this, the high command has also ordered Congress MLA from Vansda, Anant Patel, to contest the elections. Anant Patel has been given ticket from Valsad seat. BJP has not yet selected the candidate for Valsad seat.

Congress high command decided to give ticket to Patidar face on Porbandar seat.

Former MLA Lalit Vasoya, considered the face of the Patidar movement, will contest from Porbandar seat. Given that BJP has given the ticket to Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the Congress high command has also decided to give the ticket to Lalit Vasoya as the Patidar face. However, Arjun Modhwadia has resigned from this seat and has taken over the role of Kesario. Therefore, it is a tough climb for Congress. MLA Amarsingh contested the elections from Bardoli seat. Siddharth Chedhari, son of Z Choudhary, has been given the ticket. There is enthusiasm among the youth workers after the election of Tapi District Panchayat member Sumul Deri and APMC Director Siddharth Choudhary.

Rohan Gupta decided to contest elections from Ahmedabad East

Meanwhile, Rohan Gupta, a young face from Ahmedabad East and national spokesperson of AICC, has decided to contest the elections. It will be decided in a day or two with whom Rohan Gupta, son of former parliamentary secretary Rajkumar Gupta, will compete. Apart from this, former MLA Bharat Makwana has been selected as Congress candidate from Ahmedabad West seat. He was elected MLA from Sojitra seat in the year 1998. Kutch District Congress Committee President Nitish Lal has been given ticket on Kutch seat. Lalan will face BJP MP Vinod Chavda. Now there will be a meeting of the Central Parliamentary Committee of Congress in Delhi on March 15, in which the candidates of the third list will be discussed. The names of 15 candidates from Gujarat are yet to be announced.

Senior Congress leaders refused to contest elections due to fear of defeat

The situation in Gujarat Congress is such that thirteen candidates are in the fray in one evening. When there is a glut of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, many senior Congress leaders have refused to contest the elections due to fear of defeat. While Jagdish Thakor refused to contest from Patan seat, Bharat Singh Solanki also tweeted yesterday refusing to contest the elections. In view of the current political situation, senior Congress leaders have lost the habit of contesting elections. BJP spokesperson Jairaj Singh Parmar alleged that Congress has 11 sons-in-law. Those who contest Lok Sabha elections after losing the Assembly. If the public sends back the green flag then we contest elections. After this controversy, there is discussion that perhaps Congress leaders have taken this decision.
