International Buyer-Seller Meet for Handicraft and Handloom, ‘Garvi Gujarat-2018’, at Mahatma Gandhi in Gandhinagar is now open. He also launched ‘Garvi Gurjari’ Sales Online Website and App in presence of the dignitaries. Over 100 international and 200 domestic buyers-sellers and 150 exhibitors-artisans are participating in the four-day event at seminars, exhibition, demonstration, consultation and B2B meet.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today inaugurated, he said the State Government is committed to facilitate state-of- the-art facilities to help local traditional artisans catch up with the changing times with the help of Internet and Search Engines. He gave details of the Gujarat Government’s MOU with Amazon for sales of handicraft and handloom during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit.
He said the government made budgetary provision of Rs.450-crore for the development of handicraft and handloom. The government provides continuous training and guidance to the artisans to improve their skill, improve quality and market their products to ensure employment.
Gujarat has a rich kaleidoscope of Kuchchi-Jamnagari Bandhani, Patan’s Patola, Kuchchi Embroidery, Rogan Painting and Pithora Art. Cottage Industries Minister Jayesh Radadiya said that ‘Garvi Gujarat’ with the help of web portal has established itself as a global identity, made possible due to the relentless enterprise of the artisans, ably assisted by government efforts. He wished the buyer-seller meet provided the right platform for the benefit of the participants.
Cottage and Village Industry Secretary Sandeep Kumar gave details of the event in his
welcome address. Those present on the occasion included Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Chairman Shankarbhai Dalwadi, Gujarat Matikam Kalakari Gram Technology Sansthan Chairman Dalsukhbhai Prajapati and Gujarat Village Industry Bazaar Chairman Meghjibhai Kanzaria, besides a large number of domestic and international participants.
