1143 sq km increase in forest area outside forest area

Under the 76th Van Mahotsav, Galteshwar forest, built in 7 hectares at Galteshwar in Kheda district, was inaugurated as the 24th cultural forest of the state. On this occasion, the website of Gujarat State Wetland Authority was also launched.

207 forest areas have been created in Gujarat state using Miyawaki method and the green area outside the forest area has increased from 82 banyan forests to 1143 sq km. Last year, Gujarat stood second in the country by planting 17.50 crore saplings and this year the state has a target of planting 10.35 crore saplings.

This year, under social forestry, there is a plan to plant trees in 39,295 hectares of area and create 20 urban forests. Under the Panchratna Gram Vatika model, 50 saplings will be planted in 1000 villages at the rate of 50 saplings per village. In the year 2025-26, 34 sacred groves will be developed and 153.90 lakh saplings will be planted in 19,895 hectares of area.

In the year 2025-26, under the “Green Forest Path” scheme, plantation will be done in 100 hectares of area along the roads and coastal highways, plantation will be done in 35,000 hectares of area in the fields under agroforestry, 200 saplings will be planted around 130 Amrit Sarovars, 136 forest huts will be built and 100 farmer camps will be organized.
