The practice of resolving disputes through Lok Adalats is increasing, and the Lok Adalat system is gaining popularity. On September 13, 2025, the third National Lok Adalat of the year 2025 was held in the state of Gujarat.
13,67,485 cases were placed for settlement. Of these, 8,28,556 cases were settled, with awards worth ₹1,626 crore.
The National Legal Services Authority and the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority are assisting. Cases involving accident compensation, civil claims, criminal disputes involving check bouncing, offenses punishable with fines, marital disputes, and industrial disputes were heard.
4,25,754 pre-trial cases in the state were settled.
Awards worth ₹81 crore were awarded.
380,000 e-challan cases were settled, resulting in recovery of ₹25 crore.
3,471 marital disputes pending in courts across the state were resolved.
Of the pending cases, 400,000 were resolved through Lok Adalats and special meetings, resulting in awards worth ₹1,545 crore.
790 cases older than 10 years were settled through the conciliation system.
All courts in Gujarat are conducting campaigns to target old cases for settlement, with 5,638 cases submitted to the Lok Adalat.

How many cases were settled in the year 2024?
3304 cases of marital disputes, the highest in the state, were settled in the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Ahmedabad city.
In a motor vehicle accident case, the heirs of the deceased were awarded a whopping ₹1.6 crore compensation against a claim of ₹3 crore by the insurance company. Similarly, in the Ahmedabad Rural Court, the insurance company awarded a whopping ₹91 lakh compensation to the heirs of such a deceased. Out of a total of 15,500 cases in the Metropolitan Court, 11,938 cases were settled in the Lok Adalat.
A total of 330,655 pre-litigation cases were also settled in the state through Lok Adalat.

2022-2021 National Court
The National Legal Services Authority organizes Lok Adalats in 36 states. In 2022, 4 million cases were settled in a single day. Compensation worth ₹2,706 crore was also awarded.
