After the failure of PCR police, now drone police has been formed in Gujarat

Drones will be used more for the benefit of VIPs rather than for the welfare of the people

Ahmedabad, 6 April 2025
Gujarat Police has launched “GP-Drishti” (Gujarat Police – Drone Response and Aerial Surveillance Tactical Intervention). To reduce the response time of police to incidents and make the response more effective. Drones will be used more for people like VIPs and judges rather than for the welfare of the people.

The video footage captured by the drone will be visible to the officers at the drone base station in real time. On the basis of which the incident can be assessed and police force can be determined. Immediate assessment of the situation and effective action will be possible.

Use against opponents
Drone technology is used to provide immediate assistance in law and order, mineral theft, coastal intrusion, kidnapping, attack, traffic and disasters. This machine is proving to be quite useful for the police. With less number of police, more work can be done for crowd management in fairs. Drones can be used to take quick action during protests or to keep an eye on suspicious people and vehicles.

PCIA WAN FAILED

PCR vans take time to reach the scene. To reduce this time and take quick action, Gujarat Police has decided to use drones. The police control room will also inform the drone base station along with the PCR van. The drone will also be sent to the scene immediately along with the PCR van.

Pilot project
As a pilot project, a 10-day experiment was conducted in Surat and Ahmedabad cities. It was found that drones reach in less than 50 percent time compared to PCR vans. Sometimes they reach the scene in just two to two and a half minutes.

8 drones purchased
After the success of the pilot project, the purchase of drones has started. 8 drones are working. Other 18 drones are being purchased. In the first phase, 33 police stations will be set up in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot cities. Drones will be deployed in places where the crime rate is high.

Training is being given in Karai. In the first phase, this project will start in 8 police stations of Ahmedabad. After this, drones will be made available in Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat.

Other states ahead

Like Dehradun Police, Rajasthan Police is also conducting search and rescue operations. Drones are used in traffic management in Bikaner. Gujarat Police is lagging behind the police of other states.

In the case of kidnapping of a nursing student in Rajasthan, Tonk Police conducted a rescue operation in the forest with the help of drones.

Drones are being made available to every police station in Rajasthan. Rajasthan Police has 52 drones.
