The Tata-Airbus plant at the Tata Aircraft Complex in Vadodara was inaugurated on 30 October.
Vadodara-based Tata Advanced Systems has developed this aircraft under a joint venture with Airbus, a European aerospace, defense and commercial aircraft, helicopter etc. manufacturer, developed in partnership with three countries.
Under this project, 16 aircraft fully manufactured in India will be given to the Air Force, while 40 aircraft will be manufactured and assembled by Tata in India.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the C-295 MW aircraft will replace the old AVRO aircraft of the Indian Air Force. This aircraft has a door at the rear. Which can be used to land paratroopers (troops) and cargo by sea.

The Tata-Airbus project involves 13,400 detailed parts, 4600 sub-assemblies and seven major assemblies in India.
Tata has signed an agreement with 125 small companies from seven states for this project. From which various types of spare parts will be procured for the aircraft.
This project will create direct employment for 600 specialists. While 3000 jobs will be created indirectly. For this, 240 engineers will be trained at the Airbus factory in Spain.
Armed/Land ISR- According to the Airbus.com website, this Airbus is also used as an airborne radar. Which can be used in near-air-support operations.
It is also an efficient tool for extinguishing forest fires, which works as a water bomber.
This aircraft also helps the Navy, it proves useful for long periods between sea battles.
C-295 is also useful for airborne early warning, it gives a complete 360-degree picture of the airspace.
It has a removable refueling kit for air-to-air refueling. With which up to 6000 kg of fuel can be replaced.
It is also useful in VIP transportation, as it has a palletized VIP-seat module.
It is also useful in medical emergencies. It can carry 24 stretchers and seven medical assistants.
Tata and Airbus will manufacture C-295 MW cargo aircraft for the Indian Air Force at this plant.
This project will embody the spirit of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that this project will write a new history in the relations between India and Spain. India’s defense and space capabilities will increase.
This is the first project of manufacturing aircraft in India for the Indian Air Force by a private aircraft manufacturing company. A total of Rs 21,935 crore will be spent on this project.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while laying the foundation stone in Vadodara, Gujarat, said that “India is increasing its strength with Make in India, Make for the Globe”.
The foundation stone of this project was laid in October two years ago and it is being inaugurated today.
Vadodara and its surrounding areas will become the hub of the aerospace industry. The aircraft manufactured here will also be exported abroad in the future. This project will give a new direction to the relations between India and Spain.
