Decline of tribal folk Pavri

Tribal culture is disappearing. The number of artists playing Pavri instruments is decreasing. The present generation has no interest in playing this instrument.

Importance of Pavri

Pavri is a tribal folk instrument. To which the religious importance of the tribals is attached. This instrument is played on the day of Shravan Kartik Purnima, on the occasions of marriage, to please the deity. In Dhule district of Maharashtra, Pavri instrument is played only in weddings. Pavri is mostly played during the worship of Bhaiya or Dungardev.

Pavri dance

Tribal youth perform Pavri dance on Dholka, Sharnai and Pavri tunes. Which is known as the famous pyramid dance of Dang.

There are other dances with various musical instruments in the tribal society in which Pavri dance is also performed by Pavri. There are a total of 6 Powerkars in Pavrinach. Who perform Avnavi duties through Pavri Vidya. During Pavrinach, they make pyramids with the Pavri instrument. This dance is performed after Diwali.

Making of Pavri Yantra

Pawri is a musical instrument. Which is specially made from milk. Dudhi is carved, sowed, polished. And at its upper end two bamboo poly rods are arranged by making holes in them. While at the lower end bull horns or palm leaves have been arranged. The connection between them is done with honey wax. And Pavri is decorated with feathers and various types of tassels.

Earlier cow or bull horns were used to make Pavri. However, now apart from Tadpatri, Bansali and large ripe Dudhi or Turiya growing in the forest are also used. M says.
This instrument is three to four feet long. Which is decorated with peacock feathers of different colors.
Two poly bamboo sticks are arranged by piercing them at the upper end of the Dudhima. While bull horns or palm leaves are arranged at the lower end. The connection between them is done with honey wax. Pavri is decorated with feathers and various types of tassels.

There is a museum in Ahwa that provides an overview of tribal culture and its instruments. In which types of Pavri made at different times are kept, which is very rare.

Death instruments
The danda is played at the time of death among the tribals. The largest among the tribal rhythm instruments include Ram Dhol, Madal, Dholki, Dankudi and Nagada. In earlier times, when a tribal died, the Danduki (small drum) was played slowly. Dankudi is made by binding leather over an earthen pot, while Madal Chota, which looks like a Mridang, is traditionally played in Udepur, Naswadi and Sankheda on the twelfth night of the death of any person. However, this tradition is now seen at some places.

Ramdas – Powerkar
Powerkar Ramdasbhai Dhum of Mota Bardan village of Dang district, who has been playing Powerinaach since childhood. Along with playing Powerinaach instrument mainly in Bhaiya program, he has also traveled across the country and abroad with Powerinaach. Ramdasbhai has given Powerinaach programs for 15 consecutive days in foreign countries including Madhya Pradesh, Varanasi, Goa for the cultural program of the tribals.
Powerkar, who plays Powerinaach, is earning his livelihood through Powerinaach instrument. Apart from festivals like Bhaiya, Navratri, Ganpati etc., he also plays Powerinaach in cultural programs etc. In these programs, Powerkar performs various arts with Powerinaach during Powerinaach dance. He gets his livelihood from power tools. Apart from this, he has also participated in cultural programs in other districts of Gujarat as well as abroad.

Powerkar, who plays the Poweri, is earning his livelihood through the Poweri instrument. Apart from festivals like Bhaiya, Navratri, Ganpati etc., he also plays the Poweri in cultural programs etc. In these programs, Powerkar performs various arts with the Poweri during the Poweri dance.

It is not certain where and who invented the Poweri, but this sweet, melodious instrumental music was invented by the tribals associated with nature. The power player is called Powerkar. To play this instrument, one has to play it continuously, only then the sweet tunes of music are heard.
The tribals of Dang district have their own various musical instruments which are played according to the occasions. The tribals of the district make many musical instruments themselves. Which are played according to the occasions. This sweet, melodious instrument has been invented by the tribals associated with nature. The person who plays the role of the Poweri is called Powerkar. To play this musical instrument, one has to blow continuously, which produces melodious lines of music.
