The number of dengue patients has increased in the state in 2024 as compared to 2023. There were 6682 patients in 2022, 7222 in 2023. There were 7820 patients in 2024. 600 patients have increased. However, these are government figures. The figure of private doctors is likely to be many times higher.
The positivity rate was 3.5 percent in 2024 which increased to 4.7 percent positivity rate in 2023.
The spread of various seasonal and water-borne diseases is high during the monsoon and winter seasons. Dengue cases are rampant across the state. The government has increased the number of serum sample tests.
Out of 1,49,844 serum samples taken for the diagnosis of dengue in the year 2023, 7,088 positive cases of dengue were found. That is, the seropositivity rate was 4.7%. While during the year 2024, 2,21,358 samples were taken for the diagnosis of dengue. Out of which 7,820 dengue cases were found positive. Which shows that the positive rate of dengue in the year 2024 was 3.5%.
This year, 1,700 kits of dengue NS1 type i.e. 1,63,200 tests were purchased by the state government for quick diagnosis of dengue. 611 dengue IgM kits (58656 tests) received from the Government of India were allotted to the diagnostic centers.
Three rounds of door-to-door fever surveys, antilarval activities and publicity were conducted as part of the campaign during the months of April, May and September. Which covered 86%, 89% and 92% of the state’s population respectively. During the monsoon, 492 vector control teams of 2460 men conducted disease surveys and intensive pest control campaigns in vulnerable areas.
A steady decline in dengue cases has been observed in the state during the 47th to 51st week and a significant decline in dengue cases has been observed during the 50th and 51st week in 2024 as compared to 2023.
1139 experts of the state have been trained on “Clinical Management of Dengue”. Serum samples and mosquitoes will be used to find out the type of virus causing dengue in the state. Sera typing is done by sending them to B. J. Medical College and GBRC Gandhinagar. And according to the results, disease prevention and control actions are planned and executed. All larvicides, adulticides etc. required for disease control are made available at all levels in adequate time.
