31st October is the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He played an important role in establishing Saurashtra state by merging 222 states of Saurashtra. After independence on 15 August 1947, the agreement to form the United State of Saurashtra was signed in Rajkot on 22-1-1949. The first king of the state was Maharaja Digvijaysinghji of Jamnagar. Sardar Patel Rashtra Chetna Sammelan was organized in Ahmedabad on 31 November 2023 on the occasion of the 149th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
