Gujarat got second place in the country in planting trees, does it seem true? A target was set to plant 140 crore saplings in the country. The BJP government is claiming that 17 crore 48 lakh saplings have been planted in Gujarat. This means that Gujarat alone has planted 12 percent of the trees in the country. Is this possible?
It is claimed that Gujarat has secured second place in the country in planting trees.
15.72 crore saplings have been planted in urban areas and 1.76 crore saplings in rural areas. 2 crore 95 lakh saplings have been planted in Kutch district.
These details have been placed on the government’s Meri Life portal. Gujarat has uploaded 17 crore 48 lakh 34 thousand 820 such saplings on the photo portal.
Matruvans have been established in 5500 villages in Gujarat under the 75th Van Mahotsav in 2024. A total of 10 thousand saplings have been planted at a distance of 1X1 meter using the Miyawaki method and 122 forest covers have been prepared in an area of 200 hectares in the year 2024-25.
During the year 2025-26, cities and villages together will prepare Matruvan-forests in a total area of 425 hectares.
On World Environment Day on June 5, 2025, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will prepare Sindoor Forest under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
An oxygen park of 12 thousand trees with 551 vermillion trees will be built in a plot of 5 thousand square meters near Jagatpur Bridge in Chandlodia area.
