Gujarat has won 35 medals, including 11 gold in Khelo India

Ahmedabad: With a notion to enhance enthusiasms, courage, and spirit of Gujarat’s strong participating contingent, consisting of 180 players, in the ‘Khelo India Youth Games – 2020’ sports event being played at Guwahati in Assam, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today made interactive video calling from Gandhinagar, today.

So far, Gujarat contingent consisting of 180-odd players has won total 35 medals, including 11 gold medals, in India’s one of the biggest annual sports events. The event has been flagged-off on January 9 and will be culminated on January 22.                                                                                                                                                                      Congratulating and wishing ‘Good Luck’ to participants, the Chief Minister told them that all of you are filled with enough competence and you must move ahead with a winning confidence to secure maximum number of medals for Gujarat.

Mr. Rupani further stated that it is our aim that Gujarat finishes in top-three position in medal tally in this mega sports events.

‘The Khelo India Youth Games – 2020’ includes individual sports disciplines such as Judo, Athletics, Shooting, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Archery, Swimming, Tennis, Weight Lifting and others. In these individual sports disciplines Gujarat has won 11 gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze medals, making the total medal tally of the state at 35 medals.

Mr. Rupani also pointed out that Gujarat is going to be the host-state next year of this mega sports event. Thus, it is very essential that this year the contingent wins more than 40 medals so they can prepare themselves with more confidence for the next year’s event.

It should be noted that in the previous two editions of the event, Gujarat had secured 52 medals, including 18 gold medals.

The participants had also responded the Chief Minister’s encouraging message with zest and also cheered with him booth their zeal.
