Chief Minister lays stone of Rajkot District Court new building in presence of SC, HC judges

Ahmedabad, Sunday: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani performed the ground breaking
ceremony of the new modern Rajkot District Court costing about Rs.118-crore at Rajkot. He was joined by Supreme Court Judge Justice M.R. Shah and Gujarat High Court Chief
Justice Vikram Nath.
Speaking at the function, Mr. Rupani said the State Government is committed to make
Gujarat ‘Uttam-thi Sarvottam’, rising to realise the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for
the principles of politics of development when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
He said that judiciary plays a very important role in the development of the country and his
government is committed to realise the dream of Ram Rajya for which there is need for
people to get speedy justice and have faith in Rule of Law. He said the state government
has started constructing new modern buildings for courts, with all the facilities for the
litigants. He said that Rs.118-crore has been allocated for the new Rajkot District Court
building.
The Chief Minister said that Rajkot and Surat in Gujarat are among the world’s fast growing
cities, for which a new airport, new GIDC estate at Metoda, new AIIMS and the new District
Court is being built for the development of Rajkot. He said these works will make
Saurashtra’s GDP Growth stronger.
Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma said that Gujarat Government under the
leadership of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has allocated Rs.1,680-crore in this budget for
making judiciary strong in the state, including Rs.156-crore to add more facilities in taluka
courts in the Rajkot district. It is the government policy to provide modern technology and
other facilities in all government offices and courts for the people.
Supreme Court Judge Justice M.R. Shah stressed the need to utilise the powers rested
with the judiciary to ensure the people get true justice, to retain people’s faith in the
judiciary. He attributed the modern facilities available in Gujarat courts to the overall
atmosphere in the state.
Gujarat High Court’s Chief Justice Vikram Nath said the new Rajkot District Court building
should be litigant-friendly because family court etc. are also planned to be under the same
roof.
High Court Judge Justice S.H Vora, Rajkot District Principal Judge Gita Gopi also spoke at
the function.
