After India’s independence till 2020, 2173 rich passengers died in plane crashes, out of which 133 deaths occurred in Ahmedabad. In contrast, 8 thousand people die on the roads every year in Gujarat. In which most are middle class and poor people. The government is not worried about incidents like plane crashes, because the government does not give them Rs 1 crore as compensation. If the Gujarat government gives Rs 1 crore as compensation even in road accidents like plane crashes, then 10 thousand crore rupees will have to be given every year including the injured. But the rich are taken care of and the poor and the middle class are forgotten.

After the 2025 plane crash, 450 people have died in Ahmedabad. So many deaths have not occurred in any city.

18 people, including both the pilots, died in the accident that took place on August 7 at Kozhikode Airport in Kerala. There were 190 people on board the Air India plane. This was the 52nd commercial airline accident in independent India. It is being investigated, which gave details such that 2,173 people have died in commercial airline plane crashes since India became independent in 1948. 80 percent of the accidents were caused by the pilot. The analysis done in the report is based on data from the Aviation Safety Network.

Deaths in plane crash in Ahmedabad

In which on October 19, 1988, Indian Airlines Flight 113 from Ahmedabad crashed while landing at Kotarpur near Ahmedabad Airport, killing 133 of the 135 passengers. The verdict was pronounced in 2018 and it came to light that the plane crashed due to the pilot. The Kozhikode accident was the first accident in which people died. Although there have been more than 100 accidents, they were not very fatal. Of the 52 fatal accidents, 40 involved Indian aircraft and 12 foreign aircraft.

2011-2020 safest decade

2011-2020 was the safest period in terms of air accidents in independent India. There was only one fatal accident in 2001-2010. In 2010, an Air India Express plane crashed in Mangalore, killing 158 of the 166 people on board. In 1991-2000, seven accidents killed 552 people. 349 people lost their lives in Haryana.

As aircraft technology changed, the causes of air accidents also changed. In the 30 years between 1951 and 1980, there were 34 fatal air accidents. Of these, 20 or about 59 per cent were caused or contributed to by pilot error. In the last 30 years between 1981 and 2010, there were 13 fatal air accidents and 12 of them or 92 per cent were caused by pilot error. The increase in fatal accidents due to pilot error is also because now a small number of accidents are caused by technical or structural failures.

Earlier 20 percent but now 80 percent accidents are caused by pilot error

In 1990, 20 percent of accidents worldwide were caused by human error and currently 80 percent of air accidents worldwide are caused by human error. Out of 1,057 people who died in India between 1951 and 1980, 68 died in accidents due to pilot error. While between 1981 and 2010, 997 people died in accidents due to pilot error. In this case, 80 percent or 1,740 out of 2,173 people in India have died in accidents in which pilot error was either the cause or a contributing factor.

The pilot’s decision to fly the plane without considering the weather conditions has been blamed for the plane crash in Kozhikode last week. Pilot error has been blamed for the 10 most dangerous air accidents in India. 1,352 people have died in these 10 accidents. 128 people have died in two accidents due to engine failure and bad weather.
