[:en]Indonesian Consul General discuss scope for development of bilateral trade, tourism and investment with Gujarat Chief Minister

Gandhinagar, Wednesday: Indonesia’s Consul General in Mumbai Agus P. Saptono during his courtesy call on Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani here expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral relation in trade, industry and investment by his country with Gujarat.

Impressed by Gujarat’s continuous progress in establishing its global presence through its biennial flagship event Vibrant Summits, Mr. Saptono evinced interest to join Vibrant Summit-2021 here as ‘Partner Country’ with participation of their Minister and a trade and industries delegation.

Responding to the offer, Mr. Rupani reciprocated elaborately elucidating Government of India and Gujarat Government’s policies like significant economic reforms and ease of doing business, conducive for exponential potential for development of trade, travel, tourism and other sectors, notably importing coal from Indonesia.

Mr. Saptono exuded confidence of reaching the target of USD 50 billion bilateral trade for export-import between the two countries by 2025 as agreed upon by Indonesian President and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi during G-20 Summit in Osaka. He showed interest for Indonesian Government’s investment in India, besides India’s main imports from Indonesia being coal and palm oil.

Those present during the meeting included Chief Minister’s Chief Principal Secretary Kailashnathan, Principal Secretary M.K. Das, Industries Commissioner Rahul Gupta and iNDEXTb Managing Director Neelam Rani.[:]
