Vice President Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu today asserted that the country needs energy, caliber, capacity, confidence and character from youths for meteoric growth of the nation. It is the need of the hour that we must rise above the cast based politics for the protection of democracy and removal of the criminality for providing justice to the society. He was speaking at a function organized to lay the foundation stone for the four-lane national highway no. 751 section, to be built at a cost of Rs. 820-Crore connecting Nari – Adhelai, at Bhavnagar.
Mr. Naidu said that in 2017-18 total 9800 km long highways were built. In 2018-19, total 16,000 km long highways were built, so far. In coming years total 60,000 km long roads would be built to connect the rural areas. The vice-president also released the book ‘My Journey in Parliament’, based on the experiences of union minister of state Mr. Mansukhbhai Mandaviya as the Member of Parliament.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Governor Mr. O. P. Kohli stated that the strong road network is an essential element for meteoric all-round growth of the country. The road network is making rapid growth under the ‘Bharatmala Scheme’ of the union government. Besides this, 852 and 336 houses made under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme at Bhavnagar and Mahuva, respectively, were also dedicated to the people.
Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani said that the state government is determined to make growth of Bhavnagar by developing these four lane highway, Plastic Park, and GIDC. For the development of plastic industry, the state government has allocated a land plot of 151-acre at the GIDC, Bhavnagar. Besides, developing over-bridges, the state government has also planned to make roads at a cost of Rs. 8,000-crore in Gujarat.
Union Minister of State for Road & Transport, Education and Chemical Fertilizers Mr. Mansukhbhai Mandaviya said that compared to 98,000 km long roads made since Independence, in last eight year total 100,000 km long roads were built. At present, daily 88 km long highways and 134 km long rural roads are being built in the country.
The Union Minister further stated that for development of the plastic industry at Bhavnagar, the Central Government has given permission to set up ‘Plastic Park’ and ‘Central Plastic Research Institute’ at Bhavnagar.
