Mega Placement Fair is to create job opportunity for 60,000

Mega Placement Fair for Gujarat University affiliated and grant-in colleges with a view to create 60,000 job opportunities.
Thanking the industry for their cooperation with the government in the placement fair, he
said that 33 Mega Placement Fairs are proposed to be held across the state till February
13, 2019. The objective is make Gujarat a model state to provide job for every hand, in
response to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for making India economically and
educationally strong by 2022, through Skill India, Make in India, Startup India, iCreate and
such campaigns. It is to increase the scope of education and provide jobs to youth as per
their talent. About 60 per cent of India’s population is youth.
Mr. Rupani said that whenever an industry is set up in the state that results into better
infrastructure law-and-order situation and industrial peace. He recalled that certain areas in
the state were identified as centres of unsocial elements about 17-18 years back. The state
now leads in providing jobs, making it a state of ‘job-providers’ from ‘job-seekers’. Vibrant
Gujarat Summits were also a catalyst.
On the occasion, Director of Technical Education entered into MoU with Maruti Motors, CII,
Centre of Excellence and others trade bodies for creating jobs in presence of the Chief
Minister. He presented testimonials to leading job providers.
Minister of State for Education Vibhavariben Dave said that the government is committed to provide jobs as per the talent and interest, after completing education. She said that Gujarat can take credit for organizing for the first time job fair for women. She said that 10 lakh youth were provided jobs during job fairs during 2016-17. There are 70,000 jobs as against 60,000 registrations.
