The number of voters is decreasing due to voters working in Gujarat returning to other states. Even in Ahmedabad, Amraiwadi constituency has seen the biggest reduction of 11,292 voters. Most of the people here were migrant labourers. It seems that they are not getting work due to heavy recession in Gujarat. The number of voters in Surat’s Olpad seat has decreased by 15,438. The diamond industry is going through a period of severe recession.
The number of voters in Gujarat has decreased by 3.30 lakh in one year. The maximum number of voters have decreased in Surat and Ahmedabad. Surat saw the highest decline of 92,000 voters, while Ahmedabad saw a decline of 64,000 voters. These two cities together saw a total decline of 1.65 lakh voters. In that too the number of men has decreased more than that of women. This is the first time that so many voters have reduced within a year, while new voters are also joining.
The number of voters may have decreased due to migrant workers working in Gujarat going back to their hometowns. 1.82 lakh male and 1.48 lakh female voters have decreased.
There were 4.91 crore voters in Gujarat in 2022. Whereas now 4.88 crore voters have been registered.
Apart from Ahmedabad and Surat, voters have also decreased in Vadodara and Bhavnagar. A total of 2.04 lakh voters have reduced in these four cities. In Surat and Ahmedabad, male voters have decreased by 90 thousand and female voters have decreased by 66 thousand.
Voters have increased in eight districts of Gujarat. Voters in Dahod, Banaskantha, Valsad, Surendranagar, Dangs, Mahisagar, Sabarkantha and Patan increased by 633 to 16,255.
