Nearly 64.06-lakh families covered under Ma Vatsalya Yojna, spending
Rs.1710-crore on 12.10-lakh people: Deputy Chief Minister
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani today distributed ‘Ma Card’ to 5,000 beneficiaries, identified by Gujarat Vidhan Sabha Speaker and Raopura MLA Rajendrabhai Trivedi Fan Club Ward Number 16 workers, at a function organised by the Fan Club in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel in Vadodara.
Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated the Fan Club for reaching out to the target group and Mr. Trivedi for utilising his powers for the poor’s uplift.
Mr. Rupani asked the people’s elected representatives to work for the poor, have-nots, the oppressed and needy persons in their respective constituencies as their duty, treating it as sacrifice and sharing the latter’s grief and sorrow.
Even as the Ma Card and Ma Vatsalya Card have proved to be a blessing as a health cover for the last man, he said that his government is committed to implement various schemes with priority to villagers, farmers, women and youth. He said that his compassionate government provided ST buses at concessional rate for marriage, immediate medical treatment in government/private hospitals for Rs.50,000 to accident victims, starting Helpline 1962 for medical treatment of animals, animal health camps, etc. The government reimburse up to Rs.3-lakh for medical treatment of serious cancer, kidney and heart diseases in government or private hospitals.
Mr. Rupani said the Central Government’s ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojna’ will be implemented shortly to include all the eligible persons under the scheme. It has to be ensured that no family remain uncovered under the scheme.
Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel said that Ma Card was launched when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister. It has covered 35-lakh BPL families in phase-1 and Ma Vatsalya Yojna for middle class people has covered 64.06- lakh families, meaning 3.25-crore people; the government having spent Rs.1710-crore. The Vadodara district has covered 2.98-lakh families, meaning 15-lakh people, under this scheme, the state government having spent Rs.11.7-crore. The government has included senior citizens earning up to Rs.5-lakh under Ma Vatsalya Yojna.
Mr. Patel said that Trivedi has implemented the slogan ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’ in letter and spirit to ensure social harmony.
Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rajendrabhai Trivedi said that in a record of sorts his Fan Club workers scanned his constituency to identify 5,000 families in the height of summer for 40 days for which all the workers deserve congratulations.
