Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani today inaugurated the new building of the Gujarat Police Housing Corporation headquarters spread over 2,838 sq. m. built at a cost of Rs.8.70-crore at Sector-10-B in Gandhinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, he wished the corporation builds more quality residential and corporate type non-residential buildings in a time bound manner, befitting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for changing the work culture as part of good governance. He hailed the role of the Corporation in providing comfortable houses equipped with modern facilities like solar panels, green building concept and efficient water management, ensuring a
stress-free ambience for the police force to live in.
Mr. Rupani called for prompt repair and maintenance of Police Lines and other buildings. The corporation has undertaken construction of 36,856 residential units built at a cost of
Rs.2,122-crore, out of which already handed over 35,134 units.
The corporation has also undertaken construction of 2,848 non-residential buildings, including ACB Bhavan, Home Guard Bhavan, Prohibition House, Jail Bhavan and Commando Training Centre, besides building for Forest, Pollution Control Board, Horticulture Department, Textbook Corporation, Sheep & Goat Development Corporation, at a cost of Rs.1,406-crore and already handed over 1,600 such buildings. Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja said the state government has allocated Rs.550-crore for the housing department and is committed to provide two-bedroom to police force. He asked the corporation’s engineers to ensure at least 80 per cent achievement of the target, besides maintaining certification ration maintenance. Corporation’s Chairman D.D. Patel gave details of the corporation’s buildings and its characteristic. Those present on the occasion included Corporation’s Managing Director Mohan Jha, Gandhinagar MLA Shambhuji Thakor, Mayor Pravinbhai Patel, Corporation’s Directors, ex- MDs Ashsish Bhatia, P.C. Pandey and senior police officers.
