Rakshabandhan is celebrated in Surat on the second day of the death of 82 brothers

On 12 August 1938, on the day of Rakshabandhan in Surat, a boat accident occurred in the Tapi river. In which 82 people were killed. The people of Surat have not forgotten the boat accident that happened during the celebration of the rebellion in the Tapi river of Surat even today. After the Balev festival, people were on a canoe. In Dhaka Owara, there were more people in the boat than its capacity and all 82 people drowned.

Since then, the people of Surat do not celebrate the rebellion. But the next day the residents celebrate the rebellion. That tradition is still seen in the Kot area. This tradition has been going on for 85 years.

Remembering that heart-wrenching tragedy, Suratis still celebrate Nariyal Poonam not the rebellion but the rebellion of the next day. This tradition is seen in the Kot area of ​​​​Surat.
