Sabarmati River Cruise will become a big danger for Ahmedabad, water cost of Rs 30 crores!

9 July 2023

It is mandatory to maintain the level of Sabarmati river at 133 feet in Ahmedabad for river cruise. There is a danger of destruction in the villages of Dholka during heavy rains. The Gujarat government and Amit Shah have made Ahmedabad dangerous.

Sabarmati river was filled with 600 crore liters of pure water to start the river cruise.

During heavy rains or overflow of water, the canal gates are opened to prevent damage to the banks, causing massive destruction in villages in Ahmedabad and Dholka districts. The ‘river trip’ at Sabarmati can sometimes turn into a disaster for tourists. River cruises can be a disaster for villages in Ahmedabad and Dholka districts.

For the inauguration of the river cruise, 60 million liters of water was filled in the river to maintain the water level at a cost of crores of rupees. The question has arisen that when it is raining heavily or water is coming from above, then the river cruise should be saved or the villages of Ahmedabad-Dholka should be saved.

The Sabarmati river normally maintains a water level of 134 to 135 feet. But if it rains or water comes from above, the river level rises to 126 or 127 feet. Due to heavy rains on the last day of Junmas 2023, the system was forced to open seven gates simultaneously. The Surface 127 was ready.

The water level of the river was reduced to 127 on 30 June 2023. When river cruises began on 2 July, the water level was reduced to a minimum of 133 feet to conduct ‘river cruises’ at Sabarmati. Thus the water rose by 6 feet.

Due to continuous release of water in Sabarmati river by Sardar Sarovar Nigam, it is estimated that the river level in Sabarmati river at 11 am on July 1, 2023 was 129.75 feet. During 30 minutes from 11 am to 2 pm, 1545 cusecs of water was released from Narmada Main Canal and 220 cusecs from other canals. From 2.30 pm to 6 pm, 3008 cusecs of water was released. From 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm, 4011 cusecs of water was released every half an hour for 30 minutes.

Water was continuously released from the Narmada Main Canal till 6 pm on July 1. Due to which the level of the river increased to 131.50 feet that day. Then on 2 July 2023, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the cruise through camera. In this way the Bhupendra Patel government of BJP is wasting water.

On July 3, 2023, 500 cusecs of water was released every hour from 7 am to 10 pm. On July 3, 2023, at 10 pm, the water level of the river was recorded at 133 feet. Thus, 60 thousand million liters of water was released in two days to run the river cruise in Sabarmati.

Municipal Corporation by the State Govt. The corporation is charged Rs 5.15 per 1000 liters of water. If calculated accordingly, 30 crore rupees were spent in filling the Sabarmati river only for river cruises. Its burden will fall on the Irrigation Department. Mun. This money will not have to be given to the corporation.

When the Sabarmati Riverfront was built, the river bed was reduced. After the riverfront is ready, the canal gates are opened to prevent damage to the front during heavy rains or surface water runoff. Due to which there has been huge devastation in the villages of Ahmedabad and Dholka districts.
