The Uttar Pradesh government will now pay train fares for their residents to send to their hometowns. In Gujarat, Vadodara, Karachi village, some UP residents have been charged rent as well as an extra amount. Residents of Karachi have performed at a high level.
The people of Karachi have alleged that when the train left for Uttar Pradesh on May 18, 2020, the ticket fare was Rs.690 but the Sarpanch and Talati collected Rs.800 from the UP residents of Karachi. There was an uproar over this amount. There was a demand to return the extra amount to the UP residents. No action was taken despite making representations to the Mamlatdar in this regard.
On 20th May 2020, Rs.700 fare was collected for the train going to UP. In fact, the train fare for UP workers will now be paid by the UP government. The bus in which some conscious citizens were taking the UP residents to the railway station was stopped on the way and the ticket money was returned to some UP residents. A complaint has also been lodged with the district collector regarding collection of money from UP residents.
