The Modi government has not brought Tesla to India, but it has reduced the import duty from 70% to 15%, giving foreign companies a tax benefit of Rs 8,000 per year.

Gujarat’s EX Vijay Rupani government spokesperson Minister Nitin Patel had announced that the Tesla company would come to Gujarat. After that two governments came. Government spokesperson Rishikesh Patel made this announcement on December 28, 2023.
Before the 2022 assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it was rumored that Tesla India could set up a plant in Gujarat in April.
