ગાંધીનગરમાં ગુજરાત સરકાર અને વેદાંત ગ્રુપના હિન્દુસ્તાન ઝિંક લિમિટેડ વચ્ચે દક્ષિણ ગુજરાતના આદિવાસી વિસ્તાર તાપી જિલ્લાના દોસવારા ખાતે વિશ્વના સૌથી મોટા ઝીંક સ્મેલ્ટર સંકુલની સ્થાપના માટે એમ.ઓ.યુ. પર હસ્તાક્ષર કર્યા હતા. જો હિન્દુસ્તાન ઝિંક લગભગ 500 ટનનું ઉત્પાદન કરે છે, તો તે વિશ્વની ટોચની 10 ચાંદી ઉત્પાદક કંપનીઓમાં સામેલ થશે. કંપનીએ 2012 માં વાર્ષિક 150 થી 200 ટન ચાંદીનું ઉત્પાદન કર્યું હતું. તે હવે છે. કંપની તેના ઝીંક અને લીડ માઇન્સને મોટા પાયે વિસ્તૃત કરી રહી છે. ઝીંક અને લીડની પ્રક્રિયા દરમિયાન રજત બાય-પ્રોડક્ટ તરીકે મેળવવામાં આવે છે. જેમ જેમ કંપનીનો ઝીંક અને લીડ ઉત્પાદન વધશે તેમ તેમ ચાંદીનું ઉત્પાદન પણ વધશે.
વેદાન્તા ગૃપની હિન્દુસ્તાન ઝિંક લિમિટેડ આ પ્લાન્ટ માટે રૂ.10 હજાર કરોડનું રોકાણ દોસવાડામાં કરશે તેમજ એશિયા અને મિડલ ઇસ્ટના દેશોમાં ઝિંકની મોટાપાયે નિકાસ તથા રાષ્ટ્રીય-આંતરરાષ્ટ્રિય સ્તરે વધતી જતી માંગને પહોચી વળવા પર આ પ્લાન્ટ દ્વારા વિશેષ ધ્યાન કેન્દ્રીત કરશે. વેદાન્તા ગૃપનું ગુજરાતમાં આ પ્રથમ મોટું સાહસ છે.
રાજ્ય સરકારે તાજેતરમાં જાહેર કરેલી નવી ઔદ્યોગિક નીતિ-ન્યૂ ઇન્ડસ્ટ્રીયલ પોલિસીનો લાભ લઇને આ આદિજાતિ વિસ્તારમાં સ્ટેટ ઓફ ધ આર્ટ રિસર્ચ એન્ડ ડેવલપમેન્ટ સેન્ટર પણ હિન્દુસ્તાન ઝિંક લિમિટેડ દ્વારા શરૂ કરાશે. આ સેન્ટરના પરિણામે આ વિસ્તારના કુદરતી સંશાધનોનું ટેકનોલોજી અને ઇનોવેશનથી સંવર્ધન-સંરક્ષણ થઇ શકશે.
MoUની આ પ્રક્રિયા બે જ મહિનાના ટુંકાગાળામાં પૂર્ણ થઇ હતી. 300 KTPAની ઉત્પાદન ક્ષમતા સાથે સ્થપાનારા પ્રોજેકટનો પ્રથમ તબક્કો MoU થયાના 36 મહિનામાં કાર્યરત થઇ જશે. ગુજરાતની વિકાસશીલ અને પ્રોત્સાહક ઊદ્યોગ નીતિને કારણે હિન્દુસ્તાન ઝિંક જેવી વિશ્વખ્યાત મોટી કંપનીઓ-સાહસોએ ગુજરાતને ફેવર્ડ ઇન્વેસ્ટમેન્ટ ડેસ્ટિનેશન તરીકે પસંદ કર્યુ છે.
આ અગાઉ જુલાઈ-2019 માં જે.કે.પેપર્સ કંપની દ્વારા તાપી જિલ્લામાં સ્થિત પોતાની પેપર મિલ માટે રૂપિયા 1500 કરોડના ખર્ચે વિસ્તરણ અંગેના એમઓયુ કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા. જાન્યુઆરી-2021 સુધીમાં આ કામગીરી પૂર્ણ કરવાનું કંપનીનું લક્ષ્ય હતું.
પરંતુ, કંપનીએ આ કામગીરી ત્વરિત ગતિએ ઉપાડી છ મહિના અગાઉ જ કામગીરી પૂર્ણ કરી લીધી છે.
અલ્પ કુદરતી ખનિજ સંપદા તેમજ ગીચ જંગલ-વન અને મોટા પ્રમાણમાં વનબંધુઓની વસ્તી વાળા આ આદિજાતિ પ્રદેશ છે.
હિન્દુસ્તાન ઝિંક ભારતની સૌથી મોટી અને વિશ્વની બીજા ક્રમની સૌથી મોટી ઝિંક લીડ માઇનર કંપની છે.

Gujarat government, signed an MOU with Hindustan Zinc Limited of Vedanta Group to establish a Rs 10,000-crore Zinc Smelter plant at Doswada in Tapi. It is Vedanta Group’s first investment in the state. This new Zinc smelter project with a generation capacity of 300 KTPA will accelerate the economic and industrial development of the state.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of Gujarat and Vedanta Group’s Hindustan Zinc Limited in Gandhinagar for setting up the world’s largest zinc smelter complex at Doswara in Tapi district, a tribal area of South Gujarat. If Hindustan Zinc produces around 500 tonnes, it will be among the top 10 silver producing companies in the world. The company produced 150 to 200 tonnes of silver annually in 2012. It is now. The company is expanding its zinc and lead mines on a large scale. Silver is obtained as a by-product during the processing of zinc and lead. As the company’s zinc and lead production increases, so will silver production.
Vedanta Group’s subsidiary – Hindustan Zinc Limited will set up the world’s largest zinc smelting complex at Tapi in Gujarat. The facility will focus on catering to the large export markets primarily of Asia & the Middle East and also on the rising domestic demand.
Benefit of Gujarat’s new Industrial Policy, the company will also establish state-of-the-art Research & Development Center, to help conserve natural resources through technology & innovation. It will generate direct employment for over 5,000 people. The project with its scope for setting up ancillary facilities in and around the region will help the livelihood of around 25,000 people.
The first phase of the project is expected to be commissioned within 36 months from the date of signing of MoU. the process for signing the MOU has been completed within a short span of 2 months. the group’s willingness to invest and come up with more projects in Gujarat in future.
In July 2019, JK Papers had inked an MoU with the Gujarat Government to expand its Songadh paper mill in Tapi District with investment of INR 1,500 crore and was expected to commence its operations from January 2021.
However, as on date the company is six months ahead of the envisaged operations date. Majority of the civil work has completed, and the electro-mechanical installation has also reached an advanced stage with the project expected to be ready for inauguration within next three months. The expansion will provide employment to approximately 1,000 more people of the local community and also help benefit close to 10,000 new farmers in this region.
These two projects in the district will open new doors of socio-economic development and create a wave of mass employment for the tribal population of the district.

वेदांता समूह की हिंदुस्तान जिंक लिमिटेड एशिया और मध्य पूर्व के लिए बड़े पैमाने पर जस्ता निर्यात पर ध्यान केंद्रित करते हुए और राष्ट्रीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मांग को पूरा करने के लिए, प्लासवाड़ा में 10,000 करोड़ रुपये का निवेश करेगी। यह गुजरात में वेदांत समूह का पहला बड़ा उपक्रम है।

एमओयू प्रक्रिया दो महीने की छोटी अवधि में पूरी हुई। 300 KTPA की उत्पादन क्षमता वाली परियोजना का पहला चरण एमओयू के 36 महीनों के भीतर चालू हो जाएगा। गुजरात की विकासशील और उत्साहजनक उद्योग नीति के कारण, हिंदुस्तान जिंक जैसी विश्व प्रसिद्ध कंपनियों ने गुजरात को पसंदीदा निवेश गंतव्य के रूप में चुना है।
इससे पहले, जुलाई 2019 में, जेके पेपर्स कंपनी ने 1,500 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से तापी जिले में अपने पेपर मिल के विस्तार के लिए एक समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए थे। कंपनी ने जनवरी 2021 तक ऑपरेशन पूरा करने का लक्ष्य रखा।
